Free eBook – Face the Winter Naked
Face the Winter Naked by Bonnie Turner
D aniel Tomelin, a battle-worn veteran haunted by the carnage of the First World War, deserts his family in the Great Depression and goes on the road to seek relief from his soul-shaking trauma. He’s too proud to return and face his loving wife without a job, but LaDaisy is determined to care for their family alone, if that’s what it takes. After leaving his loved ones to cope with a hell he helped create, does Daniel dare show his face again? Sometimes LaDaisy feels like killing him.
FACE THE WINTER NAKED is a story for today’s struggling economy and unemployed citizens, set in a tragic era when hope was sometimes all they had.
Bonnie Turner’s Face the Winter Naked is set during the Great Depression, but her story encompasses issues that reach far beyond that era and know no time constraints”war. Political strife. Economic collapse. Environmental catastrophe. Division of families. Cruelty and oppression. Poverty, inequity, and all the faces of prejudice. But it is also about love. And faith. And strength. And hope, forgiveness, and perseverance.
Face the Winter Naked provides an engrossing read in which Turner interweaves history, geography, and a compelling love story. More than that, it is a story that looks beyond the surface, delving into the inner workings of the human mind”a powerful narrative that illuminates larger issues of humanity that are timeless and volatile and just as apropos today as decades ago. “
~ Karen Donley-Hayes, M.A.I.S., author and editor
____
“FACE THE WINTER NAKED is a gorgeously written and evocative novel of an earlier economic crisis: the Great Depression. Readers looking for a stunning read, intelligent and emotional on every level, will not be disappointed.”
From the Back Cover
“Bonnie Turner’s Face the Winter Naked is a beautifully written tale of strength, hope, love, and despair. Within the pages of this book, the era of the Great Depression unfolds into sharply focused reality, and the people who were impacted the most by that time of financial desperation come to life. Ms. Turner is an excellent storyteller, and I found myself completely immersed in her narrative.”

Free eBook – Death On A High Floor
Death On A High Floor by Charles Rosenberg
“ Rosenberg spins a great criminal trial narrative that matches any in books by Scott Turow, John Grisham, or Michael Connelly. Readers will find the book hard to put down, but they’ll also come away with a strong sense of the Darwinian life of big law firms.”

Editor, Lawyers in Your Living Room! Law on Television
“Death on a High Floor is that delicious and rare combination of great, surprising mystery plot twists and engaging, full-color characters. I loved it, and can’t wait to read Rosenberg’s next book!”
Anne Kenney, Executive Producer, Greek,
Co-Creator/Co-Executive Producer, Family Law
When the much-despised Marbury Marfan senior partner Simon Rafer turns up dead, with an ornate dagger buried between his shoulder blades, it comes as a surprise to no one. Simon was an abusive boss and had recently been on the warpath, clearing the “dead wood” from the legal firm he treated as his personal fiefdom. Nearly a thousand attorneys and associates, scattered across four continents, had good reason to want Rafer dead, but homicide Detective Spritz has his eye trained on Marbury Marfan partner Robert Tarza, in particular. Tarza and his friend and colleague—and maybe a bit more—Jenna are soon forced to play detective themselves, in a race to find the real killer or killers before Spritz finishes assembling a collection of evidence that will make a very credible case against Tarza.

AND
From a beta reader-I must tell you that everything I’ve read lately has bored me to tears…until today. Honestly, I could not put TAKEN down. I was pleasantly surprised. I felt the author captured each character’s personality and conveyed them to the reader with such clarity, that they felt like real people. I was thrilled with how the book ended—Lucilla
From The Author
Years ago a small child was taken from his home not far from where I live. The child was never found. His disappearance haunted me over the years, and still does. Hopefully someday I will know what happened to that little boy.
It breaks my heart every time I hear a news report about a missing child. So I suppose the disappearance of that little boy long ago and those heart breaking news stories is what drove me to write TAKEN.
From the Inside Flap
The first snow storm of the season made driving treacherous. Red lights on emergency vehicles suddenly flashed up ahead. Flares lit up the highway. Teddy braked harder when the state trooper standing on the center line came into view. The trooper waved his arm and pointed toward the opposite lane from the accident. Teddy breathed more freely and moved on.
Evading detection was easy this time. Sliding into a ditch and needing to be rescued like that other driver would be a downright injustice after making it this far.

Free eBook – Shotgun Gravy (Atlanta Burns)
Shotgun Gravy (Atlanta Burns) by Chuck Wendig
S ometimes she wakes up at night, smelling that gunpowder smell. Ears ringing. A whimpering there in the darkness. Doesn’t always hit her at night, either. Might be in the middle of the day. She should be smelling pizza, or garbage, or cat s**t wafting from the house next door, but instead what she smells is that acrid tang of gunsmoke. All up in her nose. Clinging there like a tick…”
So begins the tale of Atlanta Burns, a young girl with a grim past lingering at the fringes of her droll and dreary high school existence. She’s content to remain there, too, or so she thinks: soon, however, she’s drawn in a battle against two separate groups of bullies – a trio of local troublemakers and a group of Neo-Nazi gay bashers – to save a pair of new and unexpected friends.
But actions have consequences, and by fighting back, Atlanta discovers she’s kicked over a log, thus revealing what hides squirming underneath.
It’s just her, her friends, and a .410 squirrel gun against a handful of bullies and a conspiracy whose worst aspects remain yet hidden.
Can she triumph?
Will her victory be paid in unseen sacrifices?
Or is fighting back just asking for a face full of bad news?
(This is novella #1, a complete tale in and of itself. But Atlanta’s story will continue in episode #2, BAIT DOG.)
“SHOTGUN GRAVY is like VERONICA MARS on Adderall. Atlanta Burns is a troubled teenage girl who’s scared, angry, and not taking s**t from anybody. Chuck Wendig knocks this one out of the park as he so often does.” – Stephen Blackmoore, author of CITY OF THE LOST and DEAD THINGS
“Give Nancy Drew a shotgun and a kick-butt attitude and you get Atlanta Burns. Packed with action and fascinating characters, SHOTGUN GRAVY is a story that will captivate both teens and adults and have them clamoring for the next installment.” – Joelle Charbonneau, author of SKATING OVER THE LINE
