“ I would recommend this book to anyone who likes James Patterson or books like his. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.”
–Sandra Labella, Amazon reviewer
“I think this is the final in the series. Without giving anything away, the end at first was a complete letdown. Then as I thought through it, it almost made no sense to end it any other way. Risky, but pulled off really well. I think if Tom Clancy crossed genres it would look something like this. Well done.”
–Roy Bartle
“Suspense, thriller with a perfect ending, leaving me wanting more. An on the edge of your seat, all night read. I most certainly will be reading “Dream On.”

Mort (The Fearlanders) by Rod Redux
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Horror, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Contemporary
W hen a genetically modified bacteriophage mutates into a world-wide zombie plague, infecting humankind by the billions, comic shop owner Mort Lesser must find the strength, the courage and the will to survive in a world overrun by the hungry dead.
It’s no fun being a fat guy with billions of flesh-eating zombies wandering the streets, but with the help of his fellow survivors– underwear model Peter Bolin and sexy stuntcar driver Zhao Dao-ming– Mort just might make it out of the city in one piece.
But first they will have to get past about a million hungry deadheads, and some very demented fellow survivors.
With 99% of the population turned into brain-eating zombies, the last warm-blooded human beings have suddenly become the most valuable food commodity on the planet.
***EVERYBODY LOVES MORT!***
“Mort takes some interesting twists and turns that keep it from being a formulaic zombie apocalypse story. The first chapter starts with angelic creatures rescuing survivors, so you know right from the start that you’re in for something a little bit different.”
“”Mort” was an unexpected surprise… the description doesn’t do it justice… a real delight…”
“Mort is, without a doubt, the most memorable main character – not to mention all around unique zombie book – that I have ever read. Horror that sticks with you long after the book is back on the shelf.”
“Every once in a while, a book or film comes along that changes your mindset about a genre in such a way that it can never be switched back to its original setting. This is what happened to me with Mort. With Mort, Mr. Redux takes a done-to-death (ha ha) sub-genre (zombies) and instead of cheapening or exploiting it, actually manages to enhance it. It’s not just that he added some twists to the mix (he did), but he was able to combine those twists with characters and a plot that were deep enough to not only keep you interested, but to make you feel involved. I’m not saying that Mort is Shakespeare or that it’s going to change the world but that doesn’t mean it’s not still one heck of a great zombie book.”
***OVER 60 POSITIVE REVIEWS, AND COUNTING!***
And coming in 2012: SOMA, the sequel to Mort… As the Phage spreads across the country like wildfire, the west coast braces for the oncoming epidemic. Nothing, however, can prepare the embattled survivors for the horror that is waiting in the wings, ready to swoop in and pick off anyone lucky enough to escape.

He does so, reluctantly, by giving her a job at his restaurant, The Sandwich Shop. Then crazy things start happening at the restaurant, and Kyle’s foster parents apply to adopt him. To stop it all, Maddie must learn the art of humbling herself and accepting the help God has arranged, risking her heart to Reuben in the process.
And she’d rather eat a million corned-beef on rye sandwiches than do that.
“Don’t let the light-hearted cover and title fool you. Krista Phillips’ spunky, rough-around-the-edges heroine may be “tickle me” funny, but her faith journey offers more than a cute read. There is depth here, made all the more satisfying served up with a generous side of romance.” – Tamara Leigh, author of Restless in Carolina and Dreamspell
“Krista Phillips’ book is much like a submarine sandwich–multi-layered and loaded with tasty delights. There’s a little something for everyone: a light, quirky opening, and an ending that packs a punch. Yum!” – Janice Thompson, author of the Weddings by Bella series
“Krista Phillips is a unique and entertaining new voice in contemporary Christian romance. She brings a fresh, young perspective to the genre and left me eager to read whatever she writes next.” – Kaye Dacus, author of Stand-In Groom (Christy Award Finalist 2010), The Brides of Bonneterre series, and The Matchmaker series
“In Sandwich, With a Side of Romance, Krista Phillips will win you over with her witty, entertaining, laugh-out-loud writing style. She’s created loveable, quirky, down-to-earth characters with real life struggles. As the characters wrestle to overcome their problems, you’ll find yourself cheering them on and savoring the sweet but sassy romance that ends with a blissful sigh.” – Jody Hedlund, best-selling author of The Preacher’s Bride
“With lovable characters, an engaging plot, and a swoon-worthy romance, debut author Krista Phillips has penned a novel that will have readers laughing and flipping pages well into the night. Sandwich, With a Side of Romance is a refreshing and enjoyable read!” – Katie Ganshert, author of Wildflowers from Winter
A Light In the Window by Julie Lessman
Genre(s): Christian Books & Bibles, Literature & Fiction, Romance, Religion & Spirituality, Fiction, Historical, Religious Fiction, Christianity, Christian Fiction, Historical Romance
O ne Woman. Two Men.
One stirs her pulse and the other her faith.
But who will win her heart?
Marceline Murphy is a gentle beauty with a well-founded aversion to rogues. But when two of Boston’s most notorious pursue her, she encounters a tug-of-war of the heart she isn’t expecting. Sam O’Rourke is the childhood hero she’s pined for, the brother of her best friend and a member of the large, boisterous family to which she longs to be a part. So when his best friend Patrick O’Connor joins in pursuit of her affections, the choice seems all too clear. Sam is from a family of faith and Patrick is not, two rogues whose wild ways clash head-on with Marcy’s–both in her faith and in her heart.
While overseeing the Christmas play fundraiser for the St. Mary’s parish soup kitchen–A Light in the Window–Marcy not only wrestles with her attraction to both men, but with her concern for their spiritual welfare. The play is based on the Irish custom of placing a candle in the window on Christmas Eve to welcome the Holy Family, and for Marcy, its message becomes deeply personal. Her grandmother Mima cautions her to guard her heart for the type of man who will respond to the “light in the window,” meaning the message of Christ in her heart. But when disaster strikes during the play, Marcy is destined to discover the truth of the play’s message first-hand when it becomes clear that although two men have professed their undying love, only one has truly responded to “the light in the window.”

The Story of THE RAG! (St. Mary’s Today Newspaper) by Ken Rossignol
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Professionals & Academics, Journalists, True Accounts, Serial Killers, Nonfiction, Murder & Mayhem
I n the short course of less than one year, a small-town newspaper which was run on a shoe-string was featured on the front page of two major newspapers and on network news, all due to covering the news with loud flashy headlines that ‘shouted’ the news rather than boring its readers to tears. In short, the news made news.
That was just the beginning, before long the newspaper would be the target of an organized effort by a county sheriff and his deputies and a candidate for states attorney to clean the paper off newsstands the night before an election and result in a landmark First Amendment case which is now the law of the land.
“The incident in this case may have taken place in America, but it belongs to a society much different and more oppressive than our own. If we were to sanction this conduct, we would point the way for other state officials to stifle public criticism of their policies and their performance. And we would leave particularly vulnerable this kind of paper in this kind of community.
Alternative weeklies such as St. Mary’s Today may stir deep ire in the objects of their irreverence, but we can hardly say on that account that they play no useful part in the political dialogue. No doubt the public has formed over time its opinion of the paper’s responsibility and reputation. If defendants believed its attacks to be scurrilous, their remedy was either to undertake their own response or to initiate a defamation action. It was not for law enforcement to summon the organized force of the sheriff’s office to the cause of censorship
and dispatch deputies on the errands of suppression in the dead of night.”
—Fourth Circuit, United States Court of Appeals – Rossignol v. Voorhaar
THEN LIKE THE BLIND MAN: Orbie’s Story by Freddie Owens Wegela
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Coming of Age, Literary, Literary Fiction
A storm is brewing in the all-but-forgotten backcountry of Kentucky. And, for young Orbie Ray, the swirling heavens may just have the power to tear open his family’s darkest secrets. Then Like The Blind Man: Orbie’s Story is the enthralling debut novel by Freddie Owens, which tells the story of a spirited wunderkind in the segregated South of the 1950s and the forces he must overcome to restore order in his world. Rich in authentic vernacular and evocative of a time and place long past, this absorbing work of magical realism offered up with a Southern twist will engage readers who relish the Southern literary canon, or any tale well told.
Nine-year-old Orbie already has his cross to bear. After the sudden death of his father, his mother Ruby has off and married his father’s coworker and friend Victor, a slick-talking man with a snake tattoo. Since the marriage, Orbie, his sister Missy, and his mother haven’t had a peaceful moment with the heavy-drinking, fitful new man of the house. Orbie hates his stepfather more than he can stand; this fact lands him at his grandparents’ place in Harlan’s Crossroads, Kentucky, when Victor decides to move the family to Florida without including him. In his new surroundings, Orbie finds little to distract him from Granpaw’s ornery ways and constant teasing jokes about snakes.
As Orbie grudgingly adjusts to life with his doting Granny and carping Granpaw, who are a bit too keen on their black neighbors for Orbie’s taste, not to mention their Pentecostal congregation of snake handlers, he finds his world views changing, particularly when it comes to matters of race, religion, and the true cause of his father’s death. He befriends a boy named Willis, who shares his love of art, but not his skin color. And, when Orbie crosses paths with the black Choctaw preacher, Moses Mashbone, he learns of a power that could expose and defeat his enemies, but can’t be used for revenge. When a storm of unusual magnitude descends, he happens upon the solution to a paradox that is both magical and ordinary. The question is, will it be enough?
Equal parts Hamlet and Huckleberry Finn, it’s a tale that’s both rich in meaning, timely in its social relevance, and rollicking with boyhood adventure. The novel mines crucial contemporary issues, as well as the universality of the human experience while also casting a beguiling light on boyhood dreams and fears. It’s a well-spun, nuanced work of fiction that is certain to resonate with lovers of literary fiction, particularly in the grand Southern tradition of storytelling.

Agony. Pain. Terror.
A voice whispered through the blackness of her mind, so odd, so different it caught her attention. She strained to hear the words.
“Let go. It’s time to let go.”
Sam stared through the flames, stunned. Let go of what? Knowing that someone was there stirred her survival instinct, and she fought with the seatbelt buckle jammed at her side. She was saved. Just another minute and they’d open the door and pull her free. She’d be fine.
“Please hurry,” she cried out.
“Let go. You don’t need to be in there. Let it all go, and come with me.”
She peered into the golden orange windshield to see a strange male face smiling through the flames.
He smiled.
“Come with me.”
“I want to, damn it. Can’t you see I’m trapped?” she screamed, her vocals crisping in the heat.
“Release yourself. Come with me. Say yes.”
The pain hit a crescendo. She twisted against it, hearing her spine splinter. The car seat melted into her skin. So much pain, she couldn’t breathe. Blackness crowded into her mind, blessed quiet, soothing darkness. She reached for it.
“Let it go. You don’t need to go through this. Hurry.”
Why wasn’t he opening the door? He should be trying to save her. Shouldn’t he? Sam, so confused and so tired, she could barely feel the pain overtaking her body. Where had he gone? She tried to concentrate. His face was now only a vague outline that rippled with the heat waves. A soft smile played at the corner of his mouth. The flames burned around him, weird as they centered him in the warm glow. She wanted to be with him. To live.
“Here, take my hand.”
Dazed and on the brink of death, Sam focused on the hand reaching for her. She struggled to raise the charred piece of flesh that had been her arm and reached out to grasp his.
She was free.
Overwhelmed, she turned to hug her savior, her head just reaching his shoulder. He stood beside her, the same radiant beaming look on his face. His blond hair glowed, and he had the brightest teeth. She sighed. This beautiful man pointed to her right arm. Confused, Sam glanced down at her burned arm, realizing she could feel none of her injuries. Just like her other one, her broken arm had miraculously healed – whole, smooth and soft. Her skin hadn’t looked this good in ten years.
She spun around to find a massive fireball below. What the hell? She had to be dead. But instead of the horror or shock, she expected to feel, she felt good. In fact, she felt great. She turned to the ever-smiling stranger.
“Let’s go sweetheart.”
Sam didn’t know why he’d called her that, but, honestly, she was so damned grateful to be out of the car, she let him get away with it.
Holding hands, they floated higher into the cloudless blue sky. Then when the crash site below had become a tiny speck, Sam felt a hard flick on her arm and the words, “Thanks, but I can take it from here.”
And she woke up.

Blood, Smoke and Ashes by Bradley Convissar
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Horror, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers
I n the Fall of 1955, the state of Nevada used the electric chair to execute a prisoner for the first time.
It was also the last time.
Molly Blackburn, nicknamed Jane the Ripper by the Las Vegas press after killing eleven men while posing as a prostitute, was strapped to the chair without incident. The switch was flipped.
Everything after that went horribly wrong.
Since that day, a copycat Jane the Ripper has appeared almost every decade in a different city, mimicking Molly’s choice in victims as well as her methods of murder. She kills eleven men then disappears, never to be found. The similarities between the bodies left behind each decade is uncanny. As if they are all the victims of the same murderer, not a copycat.
But that’s impossible, of course, because Molly Blackburn is dead, her execution witnessed by a dozen people.
FBI Agent Jack Shaw, the lead investigator in the Jane the Ripper cases since the seventies, finally catches a break in 2009 when the intended fifth victim manages to turn the tables on the newest copycat . Everyone believes that the horror has finally ended with her capture. Shaw is not so sure, though, wondering if someone else will take up the mantle and kill seven more men to complete the cycle. But when no more bodies with her distinctive markings show up over the next two years, Shaw allows himself to believe that maybe he has seen the end of the Jane the Ripper murders.
As it turns out, what he thought was the end was only the beginning.
His hunt will take him across the country, and even when he thinks he’s finally discovered the truth, he quickly learns that not everything is as it seems.
That not every monster is created equal.
That the nature of good and evil is not as black and white as he has always believed.
That not everything that is broken can be put back together.
That not every fractured soul can be saved.
When blood, smoke and ashes rise, no one comes out the same on the other side.
Blood, Smoke and Ashes is a 115,00 word supernatural thriller that also contains the first half of my crime/thriller novella “I Never”

KLAN: Killing America by Ken Rossignol
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, True Accounts, Serial Killers, Law, Constitutional Law, Civil Rights, Nonfiction, Professional & Technical, Murder & Mayhem
T he strife and horrors of the Civil War in America were raw with the wounds of the war lasting for decades; and affecting those who lived in both the North and the South. As the nation struggled to find unity, the forces of darkness and of those who wished to rule through intimidation and terror, spread their wicked ways under the cover of white sheets.
This is the story of the Ku Klux Klan and their chief brand: Lynchings, as told in the original newspaper stories from journals across the nation. Some are brief, telling only of a single attack while others are more comprehensive and detailed, telling the story with the inclusion of complex and emotional occurrences.
The attempt of the KKK to cloak the power of control over others with fear and violence is explained in some of these news stories. The chief advocate and leader of the Klan was interviewed by reporters and allowed fair access to give his side of the story. The heroism of various groups such as the NAACP and others who risked their lives standing up to thugs and criminals is also noted, as well as the words of those individuals and leaders who fought to eliminate the influence of the Ku Klux Klan.
While the KKK had as much right as any group to demonstrate and articulate their cause, the deceits and criminal actions employed by them separated their group from the legal actions of others.
For readers in the 21st Century who know little of the life and death of the KKK, the admonition to understand and know history in order to avoid repeating it, should be considered. Therefore, it is in that hope that this book has been prepared. WARNING: Authentic descriptions are vivid and brutal and the racially charged language of this historic news reports and commentary has not been modified. This material is for adults and parental guidance is appropriate.

D eception in Savannah is a humorous crime novel, written in the tongue-in-cheek style of Mark Twain.
A prominent physician, driving while intoxicated, kills a pedestrian in a late-night hit and run accident. The only eyewitness is a would-be entrepreneur with attention deficit disorder. He also has a photographic memory, but his memories surface randomly and quickly slip back beyond his conscious grasp. His instincts as a street hustler keep him from coming forward, especially since he can’t quite focus on what it is that he needs to tell the authorities.
The driver’s casual reaction to the accident is a tipping point in his rocky relationship with his business partner and long-time mistress. She decides to break off their relationship and demands a large cash settlement for her interest in their bogus diet clinic in exchange for her silence. Her blackmail scheme lands them in trouble with the clinic’s major investor.
Unbeknownst to them, the investor is a drug king-pin using the clinic to launder money. Confused by the antics of the mistress and her alcohol-addled, porn-addicted lawyer, the mobster thinks that his empire is under attack by an unknown rival. His lethal attempts to eliminate the imagined threat to his business are frustrated by chance and the incompetence of his subordinates.
Eventually, the police find the somewhat befuddled eyewitness, who finally stumbles across his clear but misplaced recollection of the accident, and everyone’s carefully laid plans begin to unravel with comical results.
