Because Momma was once second runner-up in the Miss Texas pageant and twice named Most Beautiful of Turnip High School, Lindy is certain the path to becoming Momma’s favorite child is for Lindy to become famous herself. The only obstacle is 8-year-old Jo, a dead-ringer for the gorgeous Liz Taylor, seeking her own conduit to fame. If Jo gains fame first, Momma will focus all her love on her youngest, and Lindy’s greatest fear will be realized – that she is a nobody. In Raggedy Ann Heart, the Logan sisters deal with budding hormones, imaginary friends, and even Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, all the while competing with each other for the ultimate prize – Momma’s love.
A Dictionary of Linguistic Absurdities by Chamber Proof
Genre(s): Education & Reference, Humor & Entertainment, Humor, Literature & Fiction, Contemporary, Contemporary Fiction
E dited by Professor Darren Rimmer, BA, MA, MPhil, PhD, pH, DipEng, DipThong, STD (cured). Bernard Manning chair of Neologism and Applied Hermeneutics, City University of Newcastle upon Tyne.
Enjoy is the wrong word for this book, but the editor hopes you take something from it, even if it’s only a whole bunch of new things to be prejudiced about. The bastard offspring of Roger’s Profanosaurus and The Meaning of Liff (although endorsed by neither of those esteemed publications, which would no doubt distance themselves from it faster than Usain Bolt on banned substances), A Dictionary of Linguistic Absurdities is a ghastly little piece of unpleasantness brought to you by an academic research team which would just as soon burn it in front of a grateful and relieved populace. The public, however, has a right to know, as the News of the World once said, and look what happened to them.
The Nightlife: New York (The Nightlife Series) by Travis Luedke
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Romance, Fantasy & Futuristic, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Paranormal
V ampires, strippers, escorts, night clubs, gangs, pimps and corrupt cops, the Nightlife of New York is never boring.
Is she a beautiful blond guardian angel as he imagined, or something else entirely? When Michelle saves Aaron’s life she shares the benefits of her blood––after getting him shot accidentally. He awakes a changed man, living in a purgatory of eternal night, never to see the sunrise again.
Michelle drags Aaron through a hardcore learning curve of vampiric slavery. Forced to adapt to servitude, he is subject to her authority of compulsion. She orders him around like a puppet on a string, a dog on a very short leash. First things first, he must learn to feed properly without creating bloodslaves (humans addicted to the powerful drug-like effect of their venomous bite).
And then she puts him to work––a male escort in the sex trade––same as Michelle. Aaron walks a tightrope of strictly controlled feeding regiments and intensely erotic sexual adventures while catering to the neurotic control-freak tendencies of his new master. It’s do or die, Michelle vows to eliminate him if he proves too difficult to control. Amidst all these shocking and degrading adjustments, Aaron finds he’s falling in love.
Can he maintain her rules and keep a sliver of his humanity intact? Innocence is a luxury few can afford in the decadent nightlife of New York. In a world where sex, blood, and power over women is so readily accessible, Aaron struggles against the predatory instincts deeply rooted in his new psyche. He must find his way quickly, practicing rigid self-control, or risk the consequences of Michelle’s wrath.

What About the Boy? A Father’s Pledge to His Disabled Son by Stephen Gallup
N obody knew what hurt little Joseph. Perhaps some toxin had invaded his mother’s body before his birth. Perhaps it was the difficult birth itself. Or maybe the origin of his disabilities was genetic. Whatever the cause, something had gone terribly wrong — but no one was offering solutions or reasonable guidance.
He cried most of the time, and thrashed about as if in great pain. He wasn’t learning how to crawl, talk, or interact normally. His parents sought medical help and were told at first not to worry so much. Later, the professionals recommended counseling to help the parents accept reality. Nothing could help their son, and the quality of their own lives was at risk.
Refusal to accept that advice launched an improbable journey that changed their lives forever.
What About the Boy? A Father’s Pledge to His Disabled Son chronicles a family’s rejection of hopelessness and their pursuit of a normal life.
Reviews
A story of intermingled triumph and tragedy, What About the Boy? will touch not only those who have dealt with autism or any other disability but also those who have been spared those agonies. In life, agony comes to most of us, but Gallup’s book is a testament to living.
- Richmond, VA Times-Dispatch
What About the Boy? is an homage to parental love and sacrifice. … It is socially relevant, exposing gaps in American medicine and underscoring the need for all parents to be vocal and vigilant when it comes to their children. What About the Boy? is a challenging book, filled with tragedy and determination.
