Jobless, practically homeless, and tired of being manless, Sophie Taylor jumps at the chance to be Beaumont Walker’s personal assistant. Six weeks on the road with country music’s bad boy–and, more importantly, his all-male crew–is the perfect opportunity to change her life.
Beau Walker doesn’t need any more distractions. Sophie, with her butt-ugly suits and balls-to-the-wall attitude, shouldn’t be one, but she proves to be distracting and more–even, surprisingly, a friend. So when he discovers her plan to snag a man from his worldly wise crew, he’s determined to protect her from herself.
When Sophie realizes Beau is behind her failure to attract even one member of his crew, the last place she expects to find herself is in his bed. But will one night of passion convince her she’s woman enough for him? Or will it destroy their friendship and his budding belief in true love?

To her, the wild areas offer refuge and serenity . . . To him, they are a perfect place for committing unspeakable acts . . .
The Wild Place is the story of a psychopath.
Psychopaths aren’t necessarily con men, gang members, drug lords, or killers. Some are teachers, lawyers, blue-collar workers, stockbrokers, or politicians. Some are husbands or wives, sons or daughters.
Even people trained in behavioral sciences can be manipulated by wily psychopaths. That’s because psychopaths can be so charming, so interesting and entertaining, especially in brief social situations. But in the working world and at home, this facade gives way. That’s when the psychopath’s true characteristics emerge–especially the urgent need to control others, physically and psychologically, and often, to victimize. Psychopaths are unable to give to others, to form close relationships, to love.
Who are the psychopaths? Think of husbands or wives who keep sole control over family bank accounts and investments, shut their spouses out from key decisions, and cheat on their spouses without remorse. Think of politicians who make unjustified accusations and decisions from a seat of high power, bringing executives to ruin. Think of swindlers like Bernie Madoff. And, sadly, think of little children who torture and kill animals. As a rare, extreme example, think of John Wayne Gacy, “Bozo the Clown,” who murdered 32 young men.
The Wild Place is the story of one man, an extreme psychopath, and what can happen when we ignore the signs of psychopathy. I hope that after reading The Wild Place you’ll have a better understanding of psychopaths, see through some of their deceptions, and be better able to avoid becoming a victim.

Five Star Review
If you like a spine-tingling, on-the-edge-of your-seat thriller, The Wild Place is for you. The book is filled with shocking, realistic details. This fast-paced, horrifyingly intensified read will keep you guessing what is waiting around the corner.
Was Julie Landis about to find out what the wild place really looked like from behind the eyes of fear? Would Andy be there to help her? Or will she have to battle her way out of a bad situation alone?
After a near-fatal accident and exposure to the media, Julie gets more than publicity; she begins to receive threatening messages from a man. At about the same time, she also begins to receive unusual phone calls. Who could this sinister sounding individual be? Fear gripped her like a vise. Why was she being targeted?
As her stalker begins to leave dead animals near her garage door, Julie searches her memory as to why this person would be so heartless. What had she done that he would get enjoyment from such torture? Is this man just trying to scare her? Or does he intend to carry out his wild threats? Will he strike without warning? Or will he move stealthily in on her? Will Julie be the next one to die?
Barbara Goodheart’s talent shines. While her characters face exposure to evil through the pleasantly puzzling plot, you, the reader, will be mystified on entering into the realm of danger along with Julie. –

The final two residents in the neighborhood of Camelot, an old man and his invalid brother, are trapped in their house by forests full of cats and dogs battling with the bears and wolves to eat anything they can find. As the man struggles to survive, he recounts all the ways society changed as the human population continued to shrink. THE MAN WHO WATCHED THE WORLD END is the haunting account of a man who has witnessed the world fade away. It is also a story about the power of family.
