Readers who love Wally Lamb will love “My Name Is Joe”
After a routine check-up, Joe’s doctor drops a bombshell and advises him to get his affairs in order. Devastated by the news, Joe spirals into a world of introspection. Middle-aged and single, he regrets taking his time for granted and is terrified at the prospect of not having fully lived.
With that key thought pressing on his mind, Joe sets out to leave his mark on the world before it’s too late. His single act of kindness sets into motion circumstances that transform not only the lives of a struggling single mother and her young son, but also his own life. By reaching beyond himself, he learns that hope and redemption are never beyond reach, and it’s never too late to live.
If I’d ever recommend a book, it has to be this one
This is definitely a hidden gem.
What I liked the most about the book is how believable Joe is as a character. How the author can convey such complex emotions and yet one can eagerly grasp and empathize with them pulling you towards the warmth of the story, which is a very touching one.
This book has definitely left its mark on me and I can only hope more people would give this title a fair chance to read it and have such an amazing experience just as I did. –Renee Olivio
