T he Miracle Inspector was chosen as a “best book of 2012″ by reviewers at The Opinionated Geeks and For Books’ Sake.
The Miracle Inspector is one of the few novels that everyone should read, it’s a powerful novel that’s masterfully written and subtly complex. SciFi and Fantasy Books
A dystopian thriller set in the near future. England has been partitioned and London is an oppressive place where poetry has been forced underground, theatres and schools are shut, and women are not allowed to work outside the home. A young couple, Lucas and Angela, try to escape from London – with disastrous consequences.
In its feminist angle, The Miracle Inspector is reminiscent of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. Smith has an extraordinarily rich imagination that never fails to surprise and delight. Huffpost Books.
Today after finishing the book, I paid attention to the smell of my lover’s hair as I embraced her when she came home, and I greeted my children with a little more enthusiasm after school. WIRED.com
Helen Smith crafts a story like she’s the British lovechild of Kurt Vonnegut and Philip K. Dick, only with a feminist slant. Journal of Always Reviews
One of the finest novels of its genre. For Books’ Sake

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Memoirs, Professionals & Academics, Journalists, Humor & Entertainment, Humor, Satire, Literature & Fiction, British, Humor & Satire, Politics & Social Sciences, Women’s Studies, Nonfiction
“ Caitlin Moran is the profane, witty and wonky best friend I wish I had. She’s the feminist rock star we need right now.”
–Ayelet Waldman, author of Bad Mother“Caitlin Moran is so fabulous, so funny, so freshly feminist. I don’t want to be like her–I want to be her.”
–Peggy Orenstein, author of Cinderella Ate My DaughterCaitlin Moran puts a new face on feminism, cutting to the heart of women’s issues today with her irreverent, transcendent, and hilarious How to Be a Woman. “Half memoir, half polemic, and entirely necessary,” (Elle UK), Moran’s debut was an instant runaway bestseller in England as well as an Amazon UK Top Ten book of the year; still riding high on bestseller lists months after publication, it is a bona fide cultural phenomenon. Now poised to take American womanhood by storm, here is a book that Vanity Fair calls “the U.K. version of Tina Fey’s Bossypants….You will laugh out loud, wince, and–in my case–feel proud to be the same gender as the author.”
