Thought Shredder by Chris Elliott
Genre(s): Business & Investing, Management & Leadership, Leadership, Self-Help, Personal Transformation, Religion & Spirituality, Spirituality, Personal Growth & Inspiration
D iscover the real you! For most of my life it was easy for me to say how much I hated my dad. What I didn’t realize was that those words and thoughts also pertained to me. If I hated him, I must also hate the part of me that is him. If I hate him I also hate me. It took a journey of identifying how much I really loved him before I could love me. I found my real purpose and my Authentic Self. It has been freeing and I can now overcome anything.
In June of 2006, my father passed away. I was 41 years old and had just lost my father. I hugged my wife seeking comfort for my loss. Then I realized I felt no loss. I held her tighter and longer; nothing. I hugged my children; still nothing. I finally realized that losing my father started when I was 5 years old. It started with that first slap across my face that caused my nose to bleed and it ended, or so I thought, with his death in a hospital bed in Arizona.
Between the ages of 5 and 41, I grew up physically and mentally, but was still immature emotionally. I spent many of those years haunted by the paranoia of becoming my father. I assumed that someday I would pass through some magical door or make some sort of anti-wish with a genie and wake up as my father. I questioned for years whether this similarity or that one meant I was becoming him.
I finally realized that I was him; and I was me. I am my father in some ways, I have to be. His genes are in me and I spent the first 11 years of my life with him. His behavior and his genetics are affecting me. I am 5′ 7″ tall on a good day, have his green eyes, dark hair that is struggling to stay with me and have near-sightedness, just like he did. Physically I have taken on many of his traits without control over them. I just am part of him. Once I realized I was also part of him emotionally and behaviorally, I could then break through the paranoia of being him and allow myself to be me. I first had to realize that being me meant being him too.

Genre(s): KindleStore, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Science Fiction, First Contact, Galactic Empire
T he Fringe Worlds will be available for FREE from May 18 through May 22!
Begin the adventure here with Book One of The Human Chronicles Saga — one of the Best-Selling Sci-Fi Series of 2012.
Adam Cain is an Alien with an Attitude!
After all, how would you feel if you were abducted by aliens and transported into a strange, new universe away from your home, your family — everything familiar to you? Would it make you happy? Not likely!
Now imagine you’re stronger, faster and more coordinated than every alien you encounter. Would you start kicking some ass? Of course you would!
This is the story of Human superiority in the galaxy, a gritty, realistic profile of a young Navy SEAL who doesn’t like aliens very much — and he makes them pay for disrupting his happy life back on Earth!
Here’s an excerpt:…Riyad stopped his story and narrowed his eyes at Adam. “You must know by now, my friend, that we Humans have certain advantages over most of the creatures out here. In fact, I understand you bested two Rigorians your first day on Nimor. That is no easy task.”
“I didn’t pick that fight! They challenged me,” Adam said in his defense.
“Oh, I’m not being critical. I’m just pointing out a fact. In the six years I have been out here, I have found creatures who were faster, who were stronger and who were tougher than we are. Some even exhibited remarkable intelligence and coordination. But none combine all these traits into one being like we do. Out here, WE ARE THE SUPERMEN. No, we can’t fly, and we can certainly be killed by the weapons they possess, but none of the creatures I’ve encountered can stand against us in a fair fight.”
Synopsis: Four thousand years ago, the Juireans exterminated the Klin race then used their technology to forge a galactic empire known as the Juirean Expansion. Now it’s revealed that the Klin still exist — and are in hiding somewhere in The Fringe Worlds. But more than that, the Klin have begun to use the Humans for some secret purpose, a fact that could bring about the total annihilation of the Human race. But only the Klin know Earth’s location, contained in the stolen computer core from a derelict Klin starship. Now Adam must race against the Juireans, as well as the Fringe Pirates, to recover the missing computer core — and find his way home. Adam could care less about the centuries-long feud between the Juireans and the Klin. All he wants to do is get home. And if a galactic empire stands in his way — well too bad for them!
Love him or hate him, Adam Cain is about as REAL as it gets.

IRAQ WAR 2003: What Really Happened Behind The Political Scenes (The Coyote Report) by Charles Edmund Coyote
Genre(s): History, Americas, United States, 21st Century, Middle East, Iraq, Military, Iraq War
N ewly Released BESTSELLER
With more than 600 citations, ranging from insider memoirs to the accounts of journalists, former government officials, policy wonks, military leaders, and news broadcasters, the ‘Iraq War 2003: What Really Happened Behind The Political Scenes’ develops a thorough analysis of what led the Bush administration use the ‘War on Terror’ to attack Iraq.
- Both the Afghan and Iraq wars continue even now to haunt the economical undercurrents of American life like a hungry ghost contributing to our country’s recession. What are the real costs of both wars and why were we led to believe otherwise? “If we fail to learn from history we are doomed to repeat it”.
- Sun Tzu, the ancient philosopher of war, stressed the importance of “Knowing Your Enemy”. This being critical to victory in the War on Terror, the book examines why al-Qaeda attacked the US on 9/11.
- Could those attacks have been prevented? What warnings from CIA and America’s friends around the world preceded the terrorist attacks of 9/11 but ignored by the Bush administration, which then used them to support its agenda of taking out Osama bin Laden’s natural enemy, Saddam Hussein, much to the chagrin of most of America’s traditional allies around the world and to the benefit of both al-Qaeda and the government of Iran?
- Why were Mullah Omar,Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri allowed to escape? Most know Mark Owen’s “No Easy Day” and how Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan in 2011, but only a few are familiar with the details of how the military bureaucracy under the Bush administration interfered with CIA doing its job.
- Why was al-Qaeda happy that the Bush Administration planned to invade Iraq? What was Osama bin Laden’s strategic long-term plan for harming the USA and what role did George W. Bush play in helping it succeed? How did the Iraq war of 2003 unwound principally to the benefit of al-Qaeda and the Shia fundamentalists of Iran?
- How did the War in Afghanistan, so successful in its opening weeks, become ‘The Long War’? What are the most effective methods for fighting terrorism?
- How did Saddam Hussein acquire his WMDs and how long, in the face of serious consequences for doing so, did he hold on to them?
- America was prosperous working toward paying off its debts during the 1990′s. What exactly would take now to undo the initial mistakes on the “War on Terror”?
- Based on the theory of conservatism, were the neo-conservatives of the Bush administration real conservatives? This analysis alone is a must-read for those Republicans at-heart concerned over how their once party has strayed from its main-street principles with which it once resonated.
Its first few chapters focus on the opening months of the Afghanistan War and Osama bin Laden’s escape in Tora Bora, then segue into the invasion of Iraq, telling how the Iraq War of 2003 unwound largely to the benefit of al-Qaeda and the fundamentalist government of Iran. The compelling narrative of ‘Iraq War 2003: What Really Happened Behind The Political Scenes’ is written almost in the manner of a novel that unpacks in an engaging and logical sequence detailed and documented information about a difficult time in modern American history.
The book ties together a considerable amount of information and provides a hopeful analysis by reminding us of where we have been. Patriotic concern – like the imprisoned lightning to which it subtly alludes – threads its way through the pages of this book, reminding its readers of the people, ideas, and inspirations that called for America to be its best.

THE SURVIVAL OF THOMAS FORD
Thomas Ford is the only survivor of the car crash which killed his wife. He is also the only witness who would be willing to identify the young, reckless driver who caused the crash. But the driver has no intention of ever letting himself be identified, not to mention what his father’s intentions are…or those of his girlfriend, Lorna, the hospital cleaner.
The young driver’s father is Jack McCallum, the powerful entrepreneur who has built a housing empire, McCallum Homes, on the high hills surrounding the city. Jack has his own dark secret to protect, as well as his business edifice to hold onto. There is no way in the world that Jack McCallum will ever let anything threaten the future of McCallum Homes.
Robert Ferguson, the passenger who was with the young driver on the day of the crash, curses himself for ever getting into the car. He watches carefully to see what the universe will do about it all, and he thinks he can hear the gears and chambers of the universe’s engine, rolling terribly towards them, out of the future, and he knows he can’t cope with that, not even if he takes his medication.
In the end, destiny will pull them all far out of the city, some of them to the moonlit hillside, where white butterflies and mysterious gas fill the air, and wild cats wrap themselves around cold trees. Jack McCallum’s trusted Polish foreman, Lanski, will recognise the place from the folklore-wilderness of his own childhood, a place where death can come stalking in the form of a white wolf, but perhaps also redemption can appear, for those like Thomas Ford who seek it.
In any case, the young driver has it in mind to take his destiny into his own hands now, which will soon lead to the life of a second young woman hanging in the balance, awaiting salvation or destruction, perhaps only the Fates, or the wind that blows through the trees, know which.

Battle for Control: A Memoir of Anorexia, Exercise Bulimia, and Other Compulsions by Doug Erlandson
Genre(s): Health Fitness & Dieting, Diets & Weight Loss, Weight Loss, Psychology & Counseling, Personality, Diets, Weight Maintenance
A norexia. Binge eating. Exercise addictions. Obsessive-compulsive behaviors. In his memoir, Battle for Control, Doug Erlandson has written the compelling story of his lifelong battle with the demons that have sought control of his life.
Born into a highly ordered household dominated by a father who displayed obsessive-compulsive behaviors of his own, Doug had seemingly outgrown many of his youthful compulsions by the time he was in high school, and during his college years he seemed headed for a normal adulthood. While in graduate school he lost more than one hundred pounds through diet and exercise, and by the time he became a member of the philosophy department faculty of the University of Nebraska at age twenty-five he was in excellent physical condition.
But the dieting and exercising that had brought him to this point soon were out of control, and within two years of becoming trim his life was dominated by both food and exercise addictions. Although he eventually conquered his anorexia and his subsequent binge-eating disorder, other food and exercise addictions such as rigid eating habits and excessive running continued to plague him through more than four decades.
In addition to these addictions, other compulsions, some amusing, others tragic, have dominated his life. For example, Doug has kept a journal obsessively for more than fifty years. At one point he was writing entries more than a year in advance to make sure that he would not miss a day of writing. He also details how excessive concern about spending money caused him to set the thermostat at sixty in the winter and eighty-five in the summer despite having ample funds to live far more comfortably.
Doug’s addictions and compulsions have continued despite a religious conversion in his early thirties and being nearly killed by a ruptured aneurysm in his late fifties. While the latter, along with knee-replacement surgeries (necessitated because he destroyed his knees through excessive running), have forced him to modify his exercise regimen, seemingly nothing to date has broken his addictions and compulsions.
Doug makes it clear that he is not condoning or glorifying his behavior. He is honest about his struggles and the inner voices that are sending him the negative messages to which he continues to listen. He is also brutally frank concerning the effect his behavior has had over the years on his wife and children and how his compulsions have produced anxiety when faced with activities (such as travel) that might upset his routines.
Although Battle for Control is primarily descriptive, Doug also discusses the personality traits that underlie his obsessions and compulsions and shows how his having a highly sensitive and conscientious nature have played a contributory role in his personality disorder. However, as he is quick to admit, these natural bents do not exonerate his conduct.
In an extensive “Epilogue,” Doug argues that despite his ongoing compulsions, he has reason for optimism. His own greater awareness of his issues and their underlying causes has allowed him to modify his behavior so that his various compulsions are no longer as debilitating as they once were. Moreover, through a greater awareness of his underlying tendencies, he is learning to channel them in a way that is positive rather than negative.
Battle for Control is a must read not only for those who suffer from food and exercise addictions or from obsessive-compulsive tendencies but also for their family members and friends. It will also be of interest to psychologists and other healthcare professionals who specialize in treating individuals with food and exercise addictions or Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder. Anyone with an ongoing interest in these issues will find it a fascinating case study.

Set in rural Georgia in the 1960s, BREAKING TWIG is a coming-of-age novel about Becky (Twig) Cooper, a young woman trying to survive the physical and emotional abuse of her mother, Helen, a beautiful, calculating woman who can, with a mere look, send the meanest cur in Sugardale, Georgia running for its life.
Not even Twig’s vivid imagination, keen wit, and dark sense of humor is enough to help her survive the escalating assaults of Helen and a new stepbrother, but help comes from an unexpected source–Frank, her stepfather. Sometimes, having one person who loves and believes in you is all a girl needs to keep hope alive.
Often raw and irreverent and sprinkled with all the Southern flavoring found in a good bowl of chicken and dumplings, BREAKING TWIG, is about finding love where we least expect it, destroying lives with easy lies, and realizing each of us determine our own truth.

Where Brave Men Fall: The Battle of Dieppe and the Espionage War Against Hitler, 1939-1942 by Darril Fosty
Genre(s): History, Military, World War II
W here Brave Men Fall – A groundbreaking and disturbing history that exposes American and British back room politics, treason, and wartime espionage while laying bare the story of one of the greatest Allied military disasters and betrayals of World War Two.
On August 19, 1942, an Allied naval armada of 237 ships arrived off the coast of Dieppe, France carrying ten thousand sailors and soldiers determined to assault Adolf Hitler’s Fortress Europe in what was coined Operation JUBILEE. What these men thought would be a textbook lesson in amphibious warfare turned instead into a slaughter. In only seven hours of battle, the Allies, consisting mostly of Canadian troops, lost more men than the United States during either the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, or the Spanish-American War. Before the day was ended, the Canadians recorded a 68 percent casualty rate. Of the 5086 Canadians who landed at Dieppe only 1443 returned to England, many of whom were wounded. What was to have been the first Allied attempt to land a large force on the European Continent since Dunkirk instead, turned into a horrendous failure.
The Battle of Dieppe was the first serious Allied assault against Hitler’s western European defense system in World War Two. Historically, it is regarded as the preamble to the June 6, 1944, D-Day Landings. Yet, there has never been a detailed and complete examination of the political, military or strategic reasons behind the raid, the countless security leaks preceding the battle, nor the claims by both German and Allied troops that the Germans had been forewarned.
Where Brave Men Fall is a riveting and disturbing journey across the pages of WWII military and political history. Painstakingly researched, the authors tell the story of American and British political, military, and espionage intrigues and the events leading up to and culminating in the Battle of Dieppe. Their conclusions are both profound and sobering, revealing how the Dieppe Raid was part of a grand British military deception resulting in the cold-blooded and calculated sacrifice of Canadian troops, in part to prevent Hitler from freeing up his western forces for an anticipated German invasion of Spain. At the heart of the author’s research are new and disturbing revelations outlining of the role played by the American media, specifically Life and Time Magazine, in the publication of coded messages designed to forewarn the Nazi’s of the upcoming raid on the French coast. This is a must read book that will leave the reader angry and shaken, forever changing one’s perspective of American and British military history and actions of Winston Churchill and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The Story Behind The Book – In 1986, two young Canadian historians, George and Darril Fosty, received and invitation to attend the South Saskatchewan Regiment Reunion in Langley, British Columbia, for the purpose of interviewing veterans of the Dieppe Raid. Little did these brothers realize that the Reunion would mark the beginning of a 25-year journey which would lead from a Canadian Legion Hall in British Columbia to the espionage streets of New York City, the back rooms of American and British politics, and the forgotten battlefields of France. Along the way, these historians would not only discover the truth behind the Dieppe Raid, but also succeed in creating a rare chronicle and account on the lives of a group of South Saskatchewan Regiment veterans who were forever changed by Dieppe and its aftermath.
About The Authors – George and Darril Fosty are the authors of eight books, including the bestseller Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes, 1895 to 1925. Where Brave Men Fall is considered their most important and finest work.

The Problem of Evil: A Biblical Perspective by Doug Erlandson
Genre(s): Christian Books & Bibles, Theology, Politics & Social Sciences, Philosophy, Religious, Religion & Spirituality, Christianity, Apologetics
“ If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good, why is there evil in the world? An all-powerful and all-knowing God would have the ability to eliminate evil while an all-good God would want to eliminate evil. Yet, evil exists. So, how can God possibly be all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good?”
Commonly known as the “problem of evil,” this question has perplexed philosophers and theologians for centuries. Countless books and articles have been devoted to trying to justify the goodness of God in the face of evil. Others have sought to show that these justifications are unpersuasive.
In The Problem of Evil: A Biblical Perspective, Dr. Doug Erlandson takes a fresh approach to the problem, one that is based on the revelation given in the Judeo-Christian scriptures. Drawing on his nearly forty years of teaching and writing on the issue, Erlandson first of all looks at the traditional attempts to provide a justification of God in light of the evil in the world. These justifications, known as “theodicies,” fall into three major types–metaphysical theodicies, the freewill defense, and greater-good theodicies. Erlandson devotes a chapter to each of these.
Metaphysical theodicies are those that argue that there is something in the nature of creation or in human beings that makes the existence of evil inevitable. Through an examination of St. Augustine’s theodicy as well as that of C.S. Lewis, Erlandson shows that this approach is particularly unpromising as a way of trying to solve the problem of evil.
The widely-held freewill defense, which argues that evil results from the wrong choices of free human beings, is shown to rest on certain debatable assumptions, the most crucial of which is that genuine free choice must result in evil. Through a careful analysis of the relationship between divine omniscience and human free will as well as an explication of what free will is, Erlandson demonstrates that this assumption is mistaken and that attempts to salvage the freewill defense through appeal to middle knowledge and timelessness are confused.
Finally, Erlandson examines greater-good theodicies, using the monumental work of John Hick (Evil and the God of Love) as his primary example. He shows that this approach, which argues that God permits evil to bring about a greater good, is as fraught with difficulties as are the other two approaches.
The second half of The Problem of Evil: A Biblical Perspective presents Erlandson’s fresh approach to theodicy. Arguing that the problem with the traditional theodicies is that they are anthropomorphic (man-centered), he proposes that we take a theocentric approach to the problem, one that assumes that God has created the world first and foremost to manifest His glory, and that He has created the world that is best suited to this purpose. We must also adopt the stance we consistently find in Scripture, as when God confronts Job: God is the eternal Creator of the universe. He knows what He is doing. We may not understand why He has created this world with its seemingly gratuitous evil. But He has promised to lead His children to glory. In the meantime, He asks us simply to trust Him.
Even so, although we must begin with trust, God has also revealed Himself sufficiently that we can gain some understanding of why He has chosen to create this world with its mixture of good and evil. The manifestation of God’s glory in creation involves the revelation of His attributes. Those that bear most crucially on the problem of evil are His righteousness, justice, mercy, and grace. Each of these is most adequately displayed in a world much like the one in which we live.
Finally, Erlandson points to the incarnation and the resurrection as proof that a good and loving God has not only experienced our sufferings and weaknesses but will fulfill His promise to bring His children to the eternal new creation where He will fully reveal to us how everything works to His glory and our good.

Facebook House: Insider tales of Mark Zuckerberg and his empire’s tumultuous first days by Judy Fusco
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Professionals & Academics, Business, Business & Investing, Biography & History, Company Profiles, Biographies & Primers, Company Histories
P rovidential festivities and rituals take place at Facebook House the week before Mark Zuckerberg and the founders of Facebook move in. These mystical events would play a pivotal role in launching the social network company during its early days. At this house, these first Facebook friends cultivate the “War, work, and Play” ethic that propels the site to the first million-member mark and helps it survive the tumultuous first days of Zuckerberg’s world empire. Also, during their serendipitous stay at this California mansion, the prodigious computer hackers make a near-fatal error that compromises the security and future of the site.
Join the author, Judy Fusco, in this previously-untold, compelling narrative of Facebook House, as she weaves together fascinating, real-life, insider tales of the founders of Facebook. Take a look into the secret lives of many Silicon Valley kingpins, and the mysterious house that became headquarters to the social networking startup that changed the world. This is not the Accidental Billionaires-type account of the early days of Facebook, dependent only on the stories of bitter ex-business partners, imagined motives and conjecture. In this alternative, Facebook history, readers enjoy up-close interactive experiences with the main Facebook players and real-life glimpses into the lives and community that launched the company. Follow Mark Zuckerberg, Sean Parker and Dustin Moskovitz in this vivid Facebook House account of the dynamics that can transform wild dreams into reality.
This book is a blend of the best traits of “The Social Network” and “The Facebook Effect” in a fresh, entertaining, quick read. A book you won’t want to put down and that will inspire you to reflect – long after you put it down – on your own desires and dreams.
According to Judy Fusco, author of Facebook House, “In recent years I’ve had the opportunity of closely watching a transformational idea take shape around my dining room table, as a team of young entrepreneurs took a dream and unveiled it to the world. This social revolution has made a difference in the lives of over one billion members and in the events of nations.”
“It seems,” she says, “as if destiny brought these social revolutionaries to my house for a brief season and a great purpose. Perhaps, too, the mystique surrounding the house played a significant role in launching the global invasion of social networking and in propelling the Facebook founders to world renown. By taking a look through a window of time–a window I and many others have called Facebook House–we can listen and learn from the carriers of this grand idea, and in their lives we can find inspiration that can shape our own destinies.”

An ex-surfer and decorated Ranger working in Army Intelligence, he finds himself suddenly dispatched to Saigon during the final days of the Vietnam War, temporarily on loan to the CIA. His CIA boss sends him on a secret mission into Cambodia — a mission so covert and highly classified that he is listed as “Missing In Action” at the outset to disguise his whereabouts. But the mission — “service a CIA asset that has gone out of the loop” — makes no sense. And is he supposed to sit tight in a hotel and wait for a mysterious contact before doing anything? And why was Jake, with no CIA experience, picked to carry it out? Soon after he arrives, Cambodia collapses and the killing fields commence. In short order he finds himself entangled with Khmer Rouge torturers, the Russian KGB and a psychopathic renegade CIA agent. How he extricates himself (and rescues the jungle-warrior daughter of a shady Chinese trader) amidst the chaos and corruption of war-torn Indochina is a tale you won’t believe, except…what if it’s all true?

K eep Your Resolutions—permanently
WHAT IT WON’T AND WILL
Thankfully, this book does not lay out a new, miracle program or wonder diet, or give you any amazing, fat-burning exercises, or even regale you with inspirational stories.
Better…
• What it will do is give you a way to keep your resolutions—weight loss and otherwise;
• It is about stopping that inner struggle of pushing and then rebelling;
• Yes, this means releasing the root cause of your Inner Resistance
LOOKING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION
Each year, we spend billions of dollars on losing weight: we ride bikes that go nowhere and climb stairs to the same place; we join gyms, sign up for programs and buy DVD’s; we follow fad after method after plan and even resort to surgery.
So why aren’t we the land of the fit, home of the trim? In fact, sixty-eight percent of us are still overweight or worse.
The problem is that each new beginning so sadly comes with the end; oh, we feel excited because it is fun to imagine how we will be looking and feeling, how others will notice and even be impressed; it can even feel good to start the actual exercising and dieting.
And most of all, we are very, very determined.
The sad part comes when our enthusiasm begins to dim; but that’s no problem—no pain, no gain, right?—so we push a bit, and then find ourselves having to push harder because those inner questions grow more insistent:
It’s time to exercise, now? AND, I can’t eat until when? AND, No desert? Again?
But we keep pushing because we want it so badly—pushing and more pushing until finally we end up pushing back, letting it all go, along with our bodies. Some of us even dive into the worst possible foods and the best possible comfort; and of course, we feel disappointed, even guilty and often disgusted with ourselves.
For us, exercise and dieting have become an endless, pointless cycle of failure.
Why?
LOOKING TOWARD A 180
We keep searching for that next miracle diet, wondrous program or hi-tech machine, while each time hoping, praying, that it will finally give us some control over our weight; but it rarely does—because the answer is NOT OUT THERE.
It never was.
Making changes on the outside only changes us TEMPORARILY, which is why all of those previous weight-loss miracles did not keep working.
Permanent change BEGINS WITHIN. So what is this inner change that will make all the difference?
It is the release of that Inner Resistance we know so well. Without it, losing weight (and keeping any other resolution) will be a very different experience.
Releasing that Resistance is what this book is all about.

B olero is one of those rare thrillers you truly can’t put down. Introducing noir detective, Nick Sayler, it is a nonstop ride to an unexpected twist ending.
Despite his bronze star with its prized V for valor, Nick Sayler was once a thief, junkie, and prime suspect in a murder case. Now he’s a mostly changed man, a private investigator with a long list of rich clients and a good life. But even after ten years there’s not enough whiskey in the world to wash away acid-etched memories of Julia Carteret, the beautiful woman who took a bullet meant for him.
He never expected a second chance to make things right until he got a midnight call from a distraught young doctor and a plea from a fragile dancer with no money, no memory, nothing in her pocket except Sayler’s card, and the number 44 carved across her back. With bewitching violet eyes she looks so much like Julia, Sayler thinks keeping her safe could put him back on the road to redemption. But not long after he takes her home to his Hudson River barge, he learns that she has a past as dark as his own, and soon he’s protecting her from a patient sociopath with seemingly preternatural power to be in two places at once.
Sayler needs his wingman Meriwether, the brilliant savant, and his restless backup, Tommy Fallon NYPD homicide, whose dicey investigative methods keep them under the radar, which is the only place to be when Sayler taunts danger. As he nears old secrets linking the dancer to a strange group: a voluptuous redhead, a concert pianist, a skateboarder, and a Polish nanny, he starts to learn why the murderer’s sex-stoked obsession can’t end until the girl is dead. When the killer who never sleeps gets the best of an exhausted Sayler on an isolated island off the coast of Connecticut, in Manhattan’s meatpacking district, and on the streets of Harlem, smart money might bet both ways, except for one sure thing: in spite of his bad leg and worse habits, no matter what the cost, Nick Sayler will not let another woman die.
