Forevermore (Pat O’Malley Historical Mysteries) by Jim Musgrave
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Mystery, Historical, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Science Fiction, Alternate History
“ And yet, the cat remains. It is an enigma, just as Edgar Poe was an enigma as a writer, and I am also an enigma as a man. We are all joined together in this mystery of terror and blood; this death of a great artist who was, most likely, just beginning to live a life of sober reflection, ready to create his greatest work ever.” Forevermore, Chapter 4.
Now a great audiobook read by Shandon Loring, a dramatic Irish voice.
In the top 100 of best sellers in the Historical Mystery category at Amazon.

Mini-Mysteries in the manner of Poe.
“If any literary work is too long to be read at one sitting, we must be content to dispense with the immensely important effect derivable from unity of impression–for, if two sittings be required, the affairs of the world interfere, and everything like totality is at once destroyed.”–Edgar Allan Poe
Synopsis:
“Musgrave mixes accurate history with a spell-binding plot to create an amazing who-done-it! Watch for more Pat O’Malley Mysteries.”
In post Civil War New York City, Detective Pat O’Malley is living inside Poe’s Cottage in the Bronx. O’Malley is haunted by Poe one night, and the detective finds a strange note. As a result, O’Malley decides to prove that Edgar Allan Poe did not die in Baltimore from an alcoholic binge but was, instead, murdered. O’Malley quickly becomes embroiled in a “cold case” that thrusts him into the lair of one of the most sinister and ruthless killers in 1865 New York City.
Jim Musgrave’s “Forevermore” is a quick read in four acts that will keep your mind razor sharp trying to solve the mystery of Poe’s murder. Pat O’Malley must first find out how to become intimate with females before he can discover the final clue in this puzzle of wits, murder and romance.
These mysteries are all short but powerful reads (following Poe’s dictum that a work, to be effective, must be readable in one sitting). The third mystery will be a “battle royale” between two of the most popular brothel madams in 1860s New York City. Come join the fun with Detective O’Malley and his partner, Madame Rebecca Charming, as they battle crime and Tammany Hall city corruption. As author Jim Musgrave says in his app for iPad, iPhone and Android, “Carry 1860s New York City around in your pocket or purse!”
Professional Review:
Most historians uphold that literary legend Edgar Allan Poe died from complications to his crippling alcoholism. But private detective Pat O’Malley believes otherwise. He believes that Poe was actually a victim of murder. In Forevermore, O’Malley sets forth on a mission of danger and romance to uncover the truth behind the demise of his old friend and one of America’s most important authors.
In most mystery novels, the quality of the story as a whole is largely dependent on the quality of the character telling it. Luckily, Forevermore has a great narrator and protagonist in the form of Pat O’Malley. O’Malley is a truly developed and surprisingly complex character. He is likable, and not a generic womanizer. In fact, many of his tragic life experiences have left him with a sort of phobia of women. Surmounting this phobia becomes a paramount plot point which makes solving the case of Poe’s murder seem not just like a job, but also a journey of critical personal importance.
O’Malley is not the only character to enjoy in this novel, though. Author Jim Musgrave has concocted an excellent cast of supporting characters including some great interpretations of historical figures like William Wallace and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Becky Charming, the prostitute and closest confidante of O’Malley, is perhaps the most interesting of them all as a woman who perfectly balances sensuality with motherly wisdom.

The way our marketplace functions has been evolving right before our eyes, changing into one that places heavy value on social interaction, which means the individuals and brands that “out-care” and “out-love” their competition will see the biggest returns. The Last American Martyr by Tom Winton
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Literary, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers, Suspense, Literary Fiction
E very now and then one small soul rises from the crowded depths of obscurity and causes the earth to wobble on its axis. This last happened in 2008 when an unemployed doorman stepped onto the worldwide stage in Stockholm and accepted The Nobel Prize for Literature.
In this me-me twenty-first century, Thomas Soles may very well be the last American martyr. This self-described “simple man” writes a book that is so powerful it brings back to life the all-but-dead international labor movement. The response to his thoughts and perceptions are astounding. Around the globe, from pole to pole, America to Zimbabwe, the footsteps of marching workers begin to tremor the earth. But not everyone is pleased.
There’s a tight-knit, elitist clique that is absolutely livid over the thoughts and ideals that fill the pages of Tom’s book. And when he and his wife, Elaina, return home from Sweden, they realize just how dangerous this profit-hungry mob can be.
Mortified by the horrible scene that awaits them inside their apartment, the Soles have no choice but to flee their longtime home. Hoping to find peace and anonymity, they bounce all over America in an RV. But they don’t find what they’re looking for. Instead they become moving targets. And everywhere they go they’re followed by a succession of life-threatening events.
What follows are a few of the stunning comments readers have made about Tom Winton’s debut bestsellier, Beyond Nostalgia:
“It’s very difficult to write what is called a literary novel without coming across as wordy or plain rambling. I find Faulkner and Joyce and Lawrence, among others, all too fond of the sound of their own words and unable to “get on with it”. There is no merit in words for their own sake in a novel: the object is to tell a story and take the reader’s imagination and keep it. You’ve done that brilliantly. All the usual trite approvals with regard to voice, scene setting and dialogue apply, so I won’t insult you by adding to them.”
Nicholas Boving
“I admire your writing skill, your wit, your way with descriptions, your ability to draw the reader from the end of a chapter into wanting to go on to the next as quickly as possible. I was overwhelmed by your description of what it’s like to try to get a book that you believe in looked at by an agent or publisher. You write about romance, and that includes sexual activity, in a way that is moving and never salacious, I think you understand women and you love your characters; why shouldn’t the reader fall for them too? All in all, Tom, it’s a very powerful, very well told piece of history. It entertains, it has a moral and it speaks to the spirit. What reader can ask for more?”
Lee Shore
“I started to read BN and intended to read page to page, but
a lack of restraint had me jumping forward to find out where this story was
going and then jumping back. Winton squeezes a lot of emotions into each
section and uses a first person narrative that actually sounds like a young kid from New York. I thought of James Jones right away when reading BN.”
Shane Kennedy
The Summer Girl
“This really is a lovely piece of writing, so many plus points I don’t know where to start. It’s heartfelt. It’s romance, not sex. It’s evocative. It’s addictive. It’s written from life? Didn’t all of us want to meet somebody like Theresa, and how many of us did?”
Michael Ashley Torrington, author, ‘Kristin.’
“What amazing reading! I have to admit that I am dumbfounded to read such a lovely, haunting and relational story from the hands of a man! There are a few men who can write in such a way–it is wonderful. Thank you for sharing this.”
B. Mayo-Neville

REVIEWS:
“McCracken’s first novel offers a coherent structure, an exact feel for the Toronto locales, and, in Pat, a hugely attractive sleuth figure.” –Toronto Star
“With Safe Harbor, Rosemary McCracken proves why she’s already won international acclaim. This is an absorbing page-turner you won’t want to miss.” –Rick Mofina, bestselling author of The Burning Edge
“Rosemary McCracken has a deft touch for writing believable relationships, especially among families. These particular characters will soon feel like people you know and don’t want out of your life. Add to this an exciting plot and you’ll be ready for a great read.” –Maureen Jennings, author of the Detective William Murdoch mysteries
“The title of Rosemary McCracken’s debut novel, Safe Harbor, resonates on many levels. Safe Harbor, a house that offers refugees with questionable legal status a home, is a central player in the novel’s fast-paced and involving plot. But the words “safe harbor” also reflect the life financial advisor Pat Tierney has chosen to live after her husband Michael’s sudden death. In the opening pages of the novel, Pat is ripped from her safe harbor by a dark secret from her husband’s past. She is forced to meet challenges she could never imagine, but her courageous refusal to turn from danger makes her a very compelling protagonist. This novel will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page.” –Gail Bowen, author of the Joanne Kilbourn mysteries
“Safe Harbor, by Rosemary McCracken, is a clever, original combination of domestic cozy and international intrigue. Its heroine, a respectable widow with a good home, a loving family and a lucrative job, suddenly finds herself responsible for a young boy with a mysterious past somehow connected to her own. Torn between saving him and saving her comfortable life, she risks all she has in a story that’s full of twists, turns, surprises and startling revelations. Touching, intriguing and sometimes downright scary, this story hooked me from page one until the final action-packed pages.” –Rosemary Aubert, author of the Ellis Portal mystery series

The One For Me – January Cove Book 1 by Rachel Hanna
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Chick-Lit, Contemporary Women, Romance, Contemporary, Contemporary Fiction, New Adult & College
I n the first book of the January Cove contemporary romance series, Kyle Parker has just started his real estate investment business and is doing well. Unattached and not interested in falling in love, he dives head first into his business in the small coastal Georgia town.
Jenna Davis’s life has come to a screeching halt. After making the worst decision on her life during college, she now finds herself a single mother about to lose her home over a decade later.
When these two cross paths after many years, sparks fly and Kyle puts up a brick wall to protect himself. In this sweeping romance, emotions run high as the two try to find themselves, and each other, again. If you love a modern contemporary romance, this is it!
Here’s a sample:
“Kyle? Are you still with me?” Jenna asked looking at him.
“What? Oh, yeah. I was just thinking about something.” Kyle didn’t know how to feel. Should he kick her to the curb and laugh all the way home at the thought of her being homeless and sad? Should he scoop her up in his arms like he wanted to do? Of course not. That part of his life was long over, and he wasn’t signing up for more hurt from Jenna.
“Thinking that you told me so?” she asked looking down at her lap. She’d changed so much over the years, but some things hadn’t changed at all. The way her hair smelled, even from a few feet away. The way she looked down nervously when she thought someone was angry with her. He’d seen her do it with her parents many times. Even the way her voice lilted in that sweet Southern way that drew him to her in the first place.
“No. Of course not,” he said, lying through his teeth.
“It’s okay, Kyle. You have the right to gloat.”
“Fine. You want me to gloat?” he said standing up, finally unable to hold back his words. “You left me standing there like I didn’t even matter, Jenna. Like our five years together meant nothing to you. So, yes, there is a part of me that feels pretty vindicated in all of this. He might have money now, but you didn’t get the benefit of that, did you?”
“I’m so sorry, Kyle. I should have handled it all better. I know that. I knew it the moment I drove away and saw your face in the rear view mirror. You didn’t deserve that, and maybe that’s why I’m being punished now.”

Aurora ‘Rori’ Sinclair could not understand what she had done to annoy the handsome chef. Letting her roommate talk her into taking this class so close to graduation was a bad idea. The dislike she read in Chef MacRae’s actions confirmed her mistake. Not only was she facing the pressure of her graduate art show but now this enigmatic man had invaded her life. Unfortunately she found herself fighting a losing battle with attraction. Marcus was fascinating, and according to their mutual friends, not really a mean guy.
Would Rori be able to keep her attraction secret long enough to survive the class? Would Marcus be willing to admit his feelings in time to keep her from walking out of his life forever? Could God actually use ‘love at first sight’ to bring two people together?

R obert looked at the glowing, bubbling water. Something was coming up. Something was surfacing; something big.
“What’s down there Commander?” Robert yelled over the noise of the chopper circling overhead.
“Something our enemies will fear.” Hawks yelled back.
“Two minutes sir; we’re in the hot box.” One of the soldiers called urgently.
“At the end of the day, all that you will have is another blurry photo of some underwater lights and the start of yet another UFO conspiracy theory; another farfetched Bermuda Triangle story like it’s been for sixty years; Roswell all over again.” Hawks yelled.
Commander Hawks leaned close to Robert locking him in a stare. He paused staring at him. Finally a smile crossed his face.
“I want you both to see what’s down there because you’re not going to believe it and because when you try to tell others they won’t believe it either.”

RUBECK’S RAIDERS
The Civil war divided the country and tore families apart. After the war, two half brothers became legendary gunfighters and cowboys in the old West–and deadly enemies.
Rubeck’s Raiders, a confederate army unit, were so brutal, even their own army disowned them. When the leaders’ son and paramour were killed one night, he knew it was one of his own men. A man hunt that spanned 10 years ensued.
The murdered girls’ younger sister saw a face in the window that horrible night, and swore to track her sister’s killer down. She hires trained killers to hunt him so she can get her revenge.
That’s how both half brothers became two of the most wanted men in the old West.
Changing names and identities, moving from frontier town to frontier town, hiding out – all became a way of life, along with having to fight for their lives at almost every turn.
One half brother knew he did it. The other was blamed for it. One didn’t want anything to do with the other. The other was protecting him.
They are all in one deadly pursuit to get him first.

P raise for Andy Smithson: Blast of the Dragon’s Fury (Book One)
“I LOVED it! Totally hooked and want to hear more. When’s the sequel coming out?” – Book Reviewer
“As far as Andy Smithson knows, he is a more-or-less ordinary 10-year-old boy, neglected by his overachieving parents and annoyed by his pampered older sister. What he doesn’t know is that he is also the latest in a line of rulers of the land of Oomaldee and the one destined to save that kingdom from a curse put on it 500 years before Andy’s birth. Andy is magically pulled into Oomaldee while washing dishes one evening, and the adventure begins–an adventure that includes fire-breathing dragons, a lisping wizard, flying horses, people-eating giants, and many new and delightful friends.
The story has plenty of exciting moments and a great deal of humor, from fart jokes and silly wordplay to more subtle humor that should appeal to adult readers. Delightful characters, exciting moments, and plenty of cool extras.” – SP Reviews
“The humor is visible and the book has many clever touches. The characters are believable… in this multi-layered story. A well-thought-through plot and vivid characters and situations.”
– Editor, A Woman’s Write
“What a wonderful read, it grabbed me from the first lines, and lively writing and dialogue kept me there!” – Author, The Sword of Demelza

Zen and Sex (a Romantic Comedy) by Dermot Davis
Genre(s): Humor & Entertainment, Humor, Love, Sex & Marriage, Literature & Fiction
M artin is a 24 year old guy who falls in love with a 38 year old woman. He has to grow so fast emotionally that he feels like he just got hit by a speeding bus.Not only is Frances fourteen years Martin’s senior, but she’s all about putting Zen into relationship, which involves every guy’s worst nightmare: talking about your feelings, being conscious of your thoughts and above all, unabashed, honest communication at all times. Martin has no idea what he is getting himself into and the sharp learning curve that’s required of him especially when he’s in the mood for sex and she wants Zen.”This is a short book but contains multitudes. The hero, Martin, is in despair about his ability to maintain a long-term relationship. After a number of failed match-making attempts he finally falls into a relationship with an older woman. At first leery, he realises that the age-gap doesn’t matter and goes headlong into the relationship. The book examines what happens when two real people try to negotiate a relationship where each is uncertain about themselves and their feelings. Dermot Davis writes Martin from the first-person perspective, and this gives him the opportunity to delve the depths and scale the heights of Martin’s roller-coaster. He writes affectionately and – it seems to me – accurately about the mental contortions that ‘real’ people go through as they work on their relationships. I’d recommend this book to anyone who’s experienced failure and success in their romantic life. You’ll recognise your feelings and the feelings of other people as they’re acted out. You’ll experience the frustration of dealing with a partner who seems to change his or her mind about how he or she feels. And you’ll laugh copiously at Martin’s attempts to find a way of having a real relationship with a real woman without giving up any essential parts of his own persona.” – Keith Dixon, author

Description:
I never intended to pick up a naked hitchhiker wearing nothing but a guitar. A guitar. Really. I don’t collect guys like that (don’t ask what kind of guys I do collect), but when you spot a blonde, tanned, sculpted man with a gorgeous smile and his thumb poking up and practically begging you to stop – you stop.
And I definitely never thought I’d be staring into the bright blue eyes of Trevor Connor, the lead singer for Random Acts of Crazy, an indie rock star I followed like the slobbering fileshare fangirl I am. How he came to be nude and lost six hundred miles from home is quite the tale, but how we fell in love is even more unreal.
Because someone like Trevor Connor, headed to Harvard Law next year, isn’t supposed to want someone like me, a rural Ohio chick majoring in Boredom at Convenience Store University who is all curves and frizzy blonde hair and manners so unpolished they have sharp edges that make you bleed.
But he did.
When his best friend, Joe Ross, the bass player for Random Acts of Crazy and a man who makes Calvin Klein models look like Shrek, drove eleven hours through the night to rescue him, though, it got real complicated. It’s one thing to like two different guys and be torn.
What do you do, though, when maybe – just maybe – you don’t have to choose?
As my Aunt Josie says sometimes, “It’s always complicated.”

H er mom’s a witch.
Her dad’s a demon.
And she just wants to be ordinary.
I batted at the curl of smoke drifting off the tip of my candle and tried not to sneeze. My heavy velvet cloak fell in oppressive, suffocating folds in the closed space of the ceremony chamber, the cowl trapping the annoying bits of puff I missed. I hated the way my eyes burned and teared, an almost constant distraction. Not that I didn’t welcome the distraction, to be honest. Anything to take my mind from what went on around me.
Being part of a demon raising is way less exciting than it sounds.
Sydlynn Hayle’s life couldn’t be more complicated. Trying to please her coven, starting over in a new town, and fending off a bully cheerleader who hates her are just the beginning of her troubles. What to do when delicious football hero Brad Peters–boyfriend of her cheer nemesis–shows interest? If only the darkly yummy witch, Quaid Moromond, didn’t make it so difficult for her to focus on fitting in with the normal kids. Add to that her crazy grandmother’s constant escapes driving her family to the brink and Syd’s between a rock and a coven site. Forced to take on power she doesn’t want to protect a coven who blames her for everything, only she can save her family’s magic. If her family’s distrust doesn’t destroy her first.

Ghosts of Victims Past by Steven Beste
Genre(s): Humor, Social Situations, Bullies, Literature, People & Places
D rew Wolf and his lacrosse teammates run around Sparta Middle School like a pack of wild animals. They’re bigger and stronger than most kids and they make it their daily mission to torment the weak and terrorize the weird. It even looks as though they’re going to get away with their latest stunt–taking a pants down picture of one of the school’s biggest wimps, Andrew Spinkowitz (AKA Sphincter). Drew is planning on sending the picture around school but before he can hit send, he is visited by the three spirits–past, present and future–and is forced to confront what will happen if he goes through with it. Can the spirits convince Drew to change his ways or will disaster strike both bully and victim?
Ghosts of Victims Past (Word Count 28,729. Reading Level 3.5) is an exciting, funny and touching middle grade novel that has an important message about the consequences of one’s actions. Boys (ages 8-12) will especially enjoy the first person narrative. Because the story ultimately has a powerful anti-bully message, parents and teachers will want children to read it. Plus, this novel mirrors Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, and it can be an important introduction for young readers into classic literature.

The Man Called Bowdry by Van Holt
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Westerns, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers, Suspense
P rerelease pricing for a limited time! Regularly $7.99.
The Man Called Bowdry
Not much is known for certain about the man called Bowdry. The bare facts are as follows. Sometime around 1880 he rode into Gray Buttes, Nevada–a long forgotten town–stayed for a time at the Pollard shack out in the hills and, after the old man was killed, made relentless war on the neighboring 3-Bar outfit which was run by the Wadley clan, known thieves and rustlers. Then he disappeared, to be seen no more, nor was he ever heard of again.
He was the only one who knew how so many men ended up dead in the boulder-strewn hills around the old Pollard shack, and he never told anyone, unless it was the wild and beautiful redheaded woman named Lucy Reardon.
There were those who doubted if his real name was Bowdry. Some even suspected that he was really old man Pollard’s long-lost son and that his name was Will Pollard, a mysterious gunfighter who roamed the early West. But before the stranger appeared it had never occurred to anyone that old man Pollard might have a son, and most would have laughed at the notion that he was related in any way to the legendary gunfighter who happened to have the same last name.
No one knew very much about the old man. No one even knew what his first name was. The people of Gray Buttes just called him old man Pollard or old Pollard, and smiled in a certain condescending way when they mentioned him.

How I Wrote 2 eBooks in 21 Days; Damn Funny. Seriously. by Glen Stanford
Genre(s): Business & Investing, Skills, Business Writing, Education & Reference, Humor & Entertainment, Humor, Business & Professional, Reference, Writing
R ide a hilarious roller coaster with Glen Stanford as he follows Steve
Scott’s plan in “How to Write a Nonfiction e-Book in 21 Days!”
Not
one to let the writing process cramp his style, this ukulele-playing,
bluegrass-singing YouTube sensation (32 views and counting) juggles his
new-found fame with astonishing persistence to produce not one, but two
works of genius. This is the true story.
FIVE CRITICAL Reasons you MUST read this book
1. America’s Funniest Recipes want you to read this book
The (secret) recipe for success:
Writer’s buzz – 1 oz
Sleepless nights – 2 oz
Tenacity (and beer) – 7 (units left deliberately vague)
Irreverence and political incorrectness – to taste
Espresso – administered intravenously – 55 gal
Pizza (1/2 pepperoni, 1/2 mushroom) – 37 slices
Humility – a whole bunch
Blend and enjoy.
2. Chuck Noris wants you to read this book
You
gonna argue with Chuck? I’m not! He is a huge believer in the power of
laughter because it leads to the lowering of stress hormones. This is
the carrot AND the stick – lower your stress by laughing and you won’t
have to worry about Chuck getting angry with you at the same time.
P.S.
Chuck Noris is from Dubuque, Iowa and is in no way related to Chuck
Norris, the consummate actor karate-guy who would probably kick my ass
if I used his name without permission.
3. The Bible wants you to read this book
The
Good Book says “A joyful heart is good medicine” (Proverbs 17:22).
Then again, it also says “Judas hanged himself” (Matthew 27:5) and “Go
and do likewise” (Luke 10:37) so you gotta be kind of selective when you
pick your quotes from this 1700-year-old classic.
4. It’s flipping funny and Rated PG, too
While I might dance around some edgy subjects, I never want my readers to squirm. I leave that to the Ben Stilers of the world.
P.S.
Ben Stiler is in no way related to the incredibly funny Ben Stiller,
whose masturbatory comedic genius (when he’s not meeting some Fokker)
always leaves you with a chuckle.
All of my books are
swear-word-free. I tire of today’s “comics” who resort to f-bombing
their material as if dirty words are the main ingredient instead of an
occasional spice.
The worst word you’ll ever hear from me is
“crap.” Feel free to substitute something stinkier if it makes you feel
better, but honest humor shouldn’t have to rely on shock jock laziness.
Then
again, Howard Stearn made $100 million with his lesbian obsession and I
sell my books for the price of a cup of coffee, so what do I know?
When
you see the word “flipping,” you are also free to substitute something
racier, like “freaking.” It’s your theater of the mind, and you are the
only one taking the tickets.
That is, unless you object to me
using the word “Damn” in the subtitle. That’s just too funny to pass up,
and I’m #%$#&! using it.
P.S. Howard Stearn is in no way
related to the radio professional Howard Stern, for whom I have only the
greatest respect. Baba Booey. Oh, and “lesbian” isn’t a dirty word
anyway, nana.
5. For Writers only
You will uncover nuggets
of resources that will be incredibly helpful on your journey to write
and publish your own book. You’ll just have to suffer through the fun
stuff to uncover them. Think of it as a treasure hunt.
IN SUMMARY
God,
Chuck, America’s Funniest Recipes and the movie Rating Board all want
you to read this book (and probably Ben and Howard, too). I wouldn’t
mess with any of them. So it’s no coffee for you today – you have a
hormone level to lower.

Defiance: Dragonics & Runics Part I by A. Wrighton
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Romance, Fantasy & Futuristic, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Epic, Sword & Sorcery
T HEY WERE ALL DEAD.
At first, a collective power in the Seven Soleran Kingdoms made sense. United under the Council, they thought it would be the end of years of war and death.
When the Council ordered the systematic murder of those capable of wielding magic – Runics – as reparation for their role in the Soleran loss of the Great War, no one thought twice of the order.
Except a few Dragonics – prestigious dragon riders – who defied the damning orders and instead demanded justice. But, their call for defiance came too late.
NONE SURVIVED.
Now, those against the Council’s oppressive reign have long since been outcast to the fringes of society – their numbers and will dwindling. Alaister Paine, Commander of the Rogue Dragonics – an elite force of Resistance Dragon Riders – leads the quest for freedom and justice with little hope of success.
On the eve of a political victory for the Council, Paine deciphers one of his predecessor’s logs revealing that one Runic – a woman of untold magic – was hidden from the Council’s grasp.
Find the Runic, and the Rogues will finally be able to enact a legendary prophecy meant to free Solera and bring justice back to its people.
Trouble is… they are not the only ones searching for the last Soleran Runic.

The Korean Word For Butterfly by James Zerndt
Genre(s): Social Situations, Literature & Fiction, Literary, People & Places, Literary Fiction
S et against the backdrop of the 2002 World Cup and rising anti-American sentiment due to a deadly accident involving two young Korean girls and a U.S. tank, The Korean Word For Butterfly is told from three alternating points-of-view:
Billie, the young wanna-be poet looking for adventure with her boyfriend who soon finds herself questioning her decision to travel so far from the comforts of American life;
Moon, the ex K-pop band manager who now works at the English school struggling to maintain his sobriety in hopes of getting his family back;
And Yun-ji , a secretary at the school whose new feelings of resentment toward Americans may lead her to do something she never would have imagined possible.
The Korean Word For Butterfly is a story about the choices we make and why we make them.
It is a story, ultimately, about the power of love and redemption.
*The author would like to note that this book deals, in part, with abortion. It tries, as best it can, to explore the issue with compassion rather than judgement.*

Four Days with Hemingway’s Ghost by Tom Winton
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Literary, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers, Suspense, Literary Fiction
F our Days with Hemingway’s Ghost is not a story of spooks and goblins. It’s a powerful story about two men from two very different times. One man is mortal, the other is immortal. One is painfully ordinary, the other world famous.
Jack Phelan is a forty-two-year-old underachiever who lives in South Florida. Although he mows lawns for a living, he’s not what you might expect. He’s got an exceptionally sharp mind and is a self-educated Hemingway aficionado.
After Jack gets into an unlikely accident he’s flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital, where he remains in a coma for four days. But somehow, minutes after he blacks out, he finds himself in Key West, Florida–rubbing shoulders with an aged Ernest Hemingway.
Hem has been sent back down to help determine whether or not Jack has what it takes to write a book for “The Main Man above the clouds.” But what Ernest doesn’t know is that the book is to be about him. And that its purpose is to change the world’s perception of the swaggering, hard-knuckled, macho myth he has become.
Over the next four days, Jack Phelan and Ernest Hemingway travel to the legendary author’s old haunts and meet up with many of his long gone friends. Some of these reunions are rollicking good times, others are highly emotional tests of strength. But wait. When their time together comes to an end, the story is still not over. That’s when things really get interesting.

The Characters
Red-haired Isabel Anderson lives on a diet of tea and takeaways. She’s a junior manager at her local supermarket but she lacks ambition and her greatest passion in life is for shopping. She drinks too much, smokes too much and spends too much. She is also fiercely independent and lives alone with only her cat, Fluffy for company.
Deacon Frost is a good-natured but slightly opinionated doctor. He is well-built and used to work as a bouncer. He now lives in a beautiful beach house overlooking the sea. He ought to have everything, but he’s been single for many years.
Alicia McBride is new in town and dresses like a bedraggled orphan. She has an aura of wide-eyed innocence, but does something darker lurk beneath? What brings her to Queensbeach? And why now?
The Setting
Queensbeach is a fictional English seaside town, out of season. With all the tourists gone for winter, it feels a bit like a ghost town. The sky is almost permanently grey, making it the perfect setting for a chilling crime drama.
The Style
FRY is a psychological thriller written in a conversational British style. If you like woman on woman crime thrillers, then this is book is for you. It has romance, but there is also an intriguing mystery that will keep you guessing right up until the very last page.

S he’s gorgeous–and only 450! He’s hot. She’s a vampyre movie star. He’s a cop. So what if they’re different species? In more than one way.
“Charming!” –The Romantic Times
“Adrienne has taken a very tired genre and super-injected it with a hyper-charged blast of raw sexual energy. A wild, tense, exciting ride that instantly grabs you by the neck and doesn’t let go!” –Rob Zombie, director of The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween
“Love Bites is pure fun from beginning to end.” –David Morrell, New York Times bestselling author of Creepers
“A fast, funny, sexy take on Hollywood vampires. Her vampires are not only divine, they’re famous!” –Anne Stuart, New York Times bestselling author of Fire and Ice
A witty take on vampyres–and Hollywood. Not to mention love…
Ovsanna Moore is the star of 17 blockbuster horror films, a few not quite so successful, and 3 that went straight to video. She’s also a 450-year-old vampire, whose clan includes Orson Welles and Theda Bara and most of Hollywood’s A-list actors…but not too many people know that.
Peter King is the poster boy for hunky Beverly Hills police detectives. When he detects Ovsanna’s pearly whites are often times bloodied fangs, instead of borrowing his mother’s garlic and holy water, he asks Ovsanna for a date. And a romantic Christmas Eve turns into a holiday of horror. Right through New Year’s.
First the paparazzi, then the werewolves, then the agents, and the rougarou at the Sportsmen’s Lodge–everyone wants a piece of Ovsanna. Literally. And it doesn’t help that Ovsanna’s personal assistant and sometimes lover is using black magick to get rid of Peter.
Ovsanna calls on her clan, the Vampyres of Hollywood, to help her and Peter fight for their lives against a menagerie of supernatural beasts that give John Carpenter’s The Thing a run for its money. Love does more than just bite in this witty, vampire-thriller romance.
Barbeau’s “Scream Queen” credentials make her the only author who could combine such a fast-paced, edgy plot with tongue-in-cheek references to the inner workings and vanity of Hollywood. A whirlwind of action, Love Bites is a hilarious and clever take on vampyres–as well as on Hollywood–that readers will never forget.
“The fast and furious final pages will leave fans hoping for a third installment.” –Publishers Weekly
“An engaging, sinister romp.” –Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, creator of the Saint-Germain vampire series

LITTLE MO, DAUGHTER OF A SCHIZOPHRENIC by Mona Mann Beckett
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Memoirs, Health Fitness & Dieting, Psychology & Counseling, Mental Illness
B LOOD RED THE COLOR OF INSANITY, She began talking to the walls, cursing and laughing, her words were of a sexual tone. The abuse she had suffered at the hands of her demon father was beginning to surface now after the trauma of having two babies within a year took its toll on her mind. She had stopped taking baths and wearing clean clothes. She painted her tiny kitchen blood red. She tried to stab my father to death, and would lay in her bed and say she was waiting to be sucked up to heaven through a straw. The Police car came to our house, she was handcuffed and put into the car screaming as they drove away, “my babies, my babies, who will take care of my babies?” Walk with me back in time as I revisit my families life with a mentally ill Mother and discover what secret in her childhood drove her there. We will journey back to her early years in Somerton, Az in the 1920′s, her marriage to my father in the 1940′s, her life with two small children in Long Beach, Ca. while he fought in WW2′s Battle of the Buldge. Read his memories that secured his place in the Great generation but would lead to the nightmares that haunted him the rest of his life. Then we will travel into the 1950′s when my sister and I were born one year apart and our Mother began her decline into the darkness of Schizophrenia. Wonder with me how she ever survived her years in the mental institutions with her unconditional love of family intact. Feel my pain as my sister and I are seperated from her and our family as babies to be cared for by Dad’s sister on the original Mann farm. Relive our growing up years in the 50′s and 60′s after coming home from the farm and surviving in a wounded family with a mentally ill Mother who whould appear back home for a time and then disappear again, and an alcoholic father doing the best he could to hold his family together. Follow me into adulthood as I marry a wounded child and raise my own family and discover the secret my Mother had carried in her soul is a curse and tries to infect the generations that follow. Feel our pain as our beloved older sister falls victim to a pain pill addiction that would take her beauty and end her life, our heartbreak as we try to save her but fail. Walk with me as I become my father’s caretaker during the winter of his life. Feel my hope and joy as I conclude that with Jesus Christ as my Savior, and the knowledge someday I will greet my loved ones again as healthy and whole in heaven, I will finally learn the truth, why my family had to suffer, what lesson God had wanted us to learn. One lesson I learned from my beloved Mother, to love, give, and serve.

Fanatical religious sects and holy leaders agree its publication would be disastrous for their creed and they aggressively attempt to procure the original document at any cost. Within a few days, they violently murder editors and friends who have read the Darwin Manuscript in attempts to stop its publication.
The Mujahidin get involved and mutilate and kill an innocent woman, while two rogue CIA agents murder more people in their quest for the Darwin Manuscript. They attempt to destroy all copies of the manuscript and kill everybody who has seen it!

EXCERPT
“Jack Reynolds is my name,” said Jack, happy in the knowledge that it would never leave the room. He spotted the papers in the priest’s hands and reached down and took them, “Ah, the famous Darwin Manuscript, have you been reading it to the ladies, father?”
“Well, I was just about to begin, if you wouldn’t mind,” said Father Mitchell reaching up for the documents.
“Well, will you look at that, a nice warm coal fire,” said Reynolds, “You don’t see those very often today, and I quite miss them.” He handed the sheaf of papers to O’Malley who quickly tore them into four and placed them carefully on the high flames of the burning coal.
The women gasped and the priest shouted, “Stop that.” It was too late, of course, because the papers were already burning. More importantly, none of them noticed Reynolds take out a large revolver and screw on a silencer.
Four silent shots whooshed across the sitting room, each one a direct hit to the head. Father Mitchell sat almost upright in his chair with a blood-ringed hole in the centre of his forehead; Margaret Morris and Marjorie Hall sat on the sofa with similar wounds and Marjorie had a look of surprise on her face as if she saw her killer. Jennifer Astbury suffered a shot through the back of her head, which now slumped over her chest.
The room was deathly quiet except for the slight noise of Reynolds unscrewing the silencer. “Check the bodies, O’Malley,” he said, turning away from the horrendous sight as if ashamed.
He was not the least bit ashamed; he was mentally counting his lifelong kill tally and was disappointed it was just short of one hundred. It was much more than that if he included bombs, mortars, and other long-distance weapons but Jack was only interested in his handgun kills.
“Check the bodies!” said O’Malley, “Why me and why check? You can see nobody’s goin’ somewhere.” He made similar comments every time, but he enjoyed to leave much of the killing to Reynolds, and was an excellent back up and clean-up man.

M any etiquette books tell you what to do when attending a wedding, setting the table, asking for a promotion, introducing yourself at a party. But what about the darker side of etiquette–the way people conduct themselves in situations that Emily Post would never write about? This book looks at situations that break the rules of a ‘decent’ society with stories about the etiquette of obesity, dementia, infertility, arson, and others. We all have our rules, our moral codes, our lines that we won’t cross. It’s when we cross those lines that things get really interesting.

Barely in his twenties, Laurie has built himself an empire that encompasses a chic Manhattan boutique and a role on an obnoxious reality series. Part worldly sophisticate and part cheerful scatterbrain, Laurie is beautiful and extravagant; at nearly twice his age, Nicola is jaded and resolutely unglamorous. As Laurie’s burgeoning fame threatens to overwhelm him, Nicola finds herself struggling to keep him on solid ground.
When Laurie becomes obsessed with tracking down the designer of a mysterious coat, he drags Nicola along on a champagne-fueled quest that takes them from the New York catwalks to glittery Hollywood parties and swanky suites in Paris hotels. What begins as a lark takes an ominous turn when they uncover a decades-old mystery involving the murders of two young models. Along the way, the odd-couple camaraderie between Nicola and Laurie evolves into a fierce bond, which is put to the test when she must protect him from a pair of deadly threats: a mercurial fellow designer hell-bent on burying a dark secret, and an obsessive killer who has fixed his sights on Laurie.
