Love Bites (Vampyres of Hollywood) by Adrienne Barbeau
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Romance, Fantasy & Futuristic, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Paranormal, Vampires, Paranormal & Urban
S he’s gorgeous–and only 450! He’s hot. She’s a vampyre movie star. He’s a cop. So what if they’re different species? In more than one way.
“Charming!” –The Romantic Times
“Adrienne has taken a very tired genre and super-injected it with a hyper-charged blast of raw sexual energy. A wild, tense, exciting ride that instantly grabs you by the neck and doesn’t let go!” –Rob Zombie, director of The Devil’s Rejects and Halloween
“Love Bites is pure fun from beginning to end.” –David Morrell, New York Times bestselling author of Creepers
“A fast, funny, sexy take on Hollywood vampires. Her vampires are not only divine, they’re famous!” –Anne Stuart, New York Times bestselling author of Fire and Ice
A witty take on vampyres–and Hollywood. Not to mention love…
Ovsanna Moore is the star of 17 blockbuster horror films, a few not quite so successful, and 3 that went straight to video. She’s also a 450-year-old vampire, whose clan includes Orson Welles and Theda Bara and most of Hollywood’s A-list actors…but not too many people know that.
Peter King is the poster boy for hunky Beverly Hills police detectives. When he detects Ovsanna’s pearly whites are often times bloodied fangs, instead of borrowing his mother’s garlic and holy water, he asks Ovsanna for a date. And a romantic Christmas Eve turns into a holiday of horror. Right through New Year’s.
First the paparazzi, then the werewolves, then the agents, and the rougarou at the Sportsmen’s Lodge–everyone wants a piece of Ovsanna. Literally. And it doesn’t help that Ovsanna’s personal assistant and sometimes lover is using black magick to get rid of Peter.
Ovsanna calls on her clan, the Vampyres of Hollywood, to help her and Peter fight for their lives against a menagerie of supernatural beasts that give John Carpenter’s The Thing a run for its money. Love does more than just bite in this witty, vampire-thriller romance.
Barbeau’s “Scream Queen” credentials make her the only author who could combine such a fast-paced, edgy plot with tongue-in-cheek references to the inner workings and vanity of Hollywood. A whirlwind of action, Love Bites is a hilarious and clever take on vampyres–as well as on Hollywood–that readers will never forget.
“The fast and furious final pages will leave fans hoping for a third installment.” –Publishers Weekly
“An engaging, sinister romp.” –Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, creator of the Saint-Germain vampire series

Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Memoirs, Health Fitness & Dieting, Psychology & Counseling, Mental Illness
B LOOD RED THE COLOR OF INSANITY, She began talking to the walls, cursing and laughing, her words were of a sexual tone. The abuse she had suffered at the hands of her demon father was beginning to surface now after the trauma of having two babies within a year took its toll on her mind. She had stopped taking baths and wearing clean clothes. She painted her tiny kitchen blood red. She tried to stab my father to death, and would lay in her bed and say she was waiting to be sucked up to heaven through a straw. The Police car came to our house, she was handcuffed and put into the car screaming as they drove away, “my babies, my babies, who will take care of my babies?” Walk with me back in time as I revisit my families life with a mentally ill Mother and discover what secret in her childhood drove her there. We will journey back to her early years in Somerton, Az in the 1920′s, her marriage to my father in the 1940′s, her life with two small children in Long Beach, Ca. while he fought in WW2′s Battle of the Buldge. Read his memories that secured his place in the Great generation but would lead to the nightmares that haunted him the rest of his life. Then we will travel into the 1950′s when my sister and I were born one year apart and our Mother began her decline into the darkness of Schizophrenia. Wonder with me how she ever survived her years in the mental institutions with her unconditional love of family intact. Feel my pain as my sister and I are seperated from her and our family as babies to be cared for by Dad’s sister on the original Mann farm. Relive our growing up years in the 50′s and 60′s after coming home from the farm and surviving in a wounded family with a mentally ill Mother who whould appear back home for a time and then disappear again, and an alcoholic father doing the best he could to hold his family together. Follow me into adulthood as I marry a wounded child and raise my own family and discover the secret my Mother had carried in her soul is a curse and tries to infect the generations that follow. Feel our pain as our beloved older sister falls victim to a pain pill addiction that would take her beauty and end her life, our heartbreak as we try to save her but fail. Walk with me as I become my father’s caretaker during the winter of his life. Feel my hope and joy as I conclude that with Jesus Christ as my Savior, and the knowledge someday I will greet my loved ones again as healthy and whole in heaven, I will finally learn the truth, why my family had to suffer, what lesson God had wanted us to learn. One lesson I learned from my beloved Mother, to love, give, and serve.

S UMMARY
An Ancient Manuscript spells Death for all who come into Contact…
Andrew Carlish inherits a manuscript written by his ancestor Charles Darwin, who never published it because of the dynamic and provocative content. Before 35-year old Andrew and his young brother Joey can publish the document, there is opposition from established religions worldwide.
Fanatical religious sects and holy leaders agree its publication would be disastrous for their creed and they aggressively attempt to procure the original document at any cost. Within a few days, they violently murder editors and friends who have read the Darwin Manuscript in attempts to stop its publication.
The Mujahidin get involved and mutilate and kill an innocent woman, while two rogue CIA agents murder more people in their quest for the Darwin Manuscript. They attempt to destroy all copies of the manuscript and kill everybody who has seen it!
Andrew served 5-years with the SAS Regiment and he needs all his skill and experience to combat the enemy as they close in on his cousin Bertie’s moated farmhouse in the Malvern Hills.
They come under vicious attack from numerous killers who are determined to find and destroy them and the original manuscript.
This powerful novel, from Brian Hunt author of the Bestseller ‘Michael’s Irish Magic’, moves furiously through the streets of London and the country lanes of England. It also includes action from The White House, The Vatican, The Presidential Palace in Tehran, CIA Headquarter, and Lambeth Palace in London.
EXCERPT
“Jack Reynolds is my name,” said Jack, happy in the knowledge that it would never leave the room. He spotted the papers in the priest’s hands and reached down and took them, “Ah, the famous Darwin Manuscript, have you been reading it to the ladies, father?”
“Well, I was just about to begin, if you wouldn’t mind,” said Father Mitchell reaching up for the documents.
“Well, will you look at that, a nice warm coal fire,” said Reynolds, “You don’t see those very often today, and I quite miss them.” He handed the sheaf of papers to O’Malley who quickly tore them into four and placed them carefully on the high flames of the burning coal.
The women gasped and the priest shouted, “Stop that.” It was too late, of course, because the papers were already burning. More importantly, none of them noticed Reynolds take out a large revolver and screw on a silencer.
Four silent shots whooshed across the sitting room, each one a direct hit to the head. Father Mitchell sat almost upright in his chair with a blood-ringed hole in the centre of his forehead; Margaret Morris and Marjorie Hall sat on the sofa with similar wounds and Marjorie had a look of surprise on her face as if she saw her killer. Jennifer Astbury suffered a shot through the back of her head, which now slumped over her chest.
The room was deathly quiet except for the slight noise of Reynolds unscrewing the silencer. “Check the bodies, O’Malley,” he said, turning away from the horrendous sight as if ashamed.
He was not the least bit ashamed; he was mentally counting his lifelong kill tally and was disappointed it was just short of one hundred. It was much more than that if he included bombs, mortars, and other long-distance weapons but Jack was only interested in his handgun kills.
“Check the bodies!” said O’Malley, “Why me and why check? You can see nobody’s goin’ somewhere.” He made similar comments every time, but he enjoyed to leave much of the killing to Reynolds, and was an excellent back up and clean-up man.

But what about the darker side of etiquette–the way people conduct themselves in situations that Emily Post would never write about? This book looks at situations that break the rules of a ‘decent’ society with stories about the etiquette of obesity, dementia, infertility, arson, and others. We all have our rules, our moral codes, our lines that we won’t cross. It’s when we cross those lines that things get really interesting.

Sedition. A Political Thriller by Tom Abrahams
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Political, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers
B EST OF 2012!
–Rabid Readers Reviews, rabidreaders.com
“Packed with detail and plot, Abrahams’ SEDITION reminded me of some of John Le Carre’s work. Maybe RUSSIA HOUSE or TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY.”
–International Bestselling Author Marc Cameron
“With echoes of heavyweights like John Grisham, Abrahams rolls out the plot with precision and attention to detail giving us believable characters unlike so many of the other post 9/11 cookie cutter thrillers that clog the genre.”
–December 2012 THRILLER OF THE MONTH, e-thriller.com
“In a rising sea of political conspiracy novels, Abrahams’ SEDITION stands out as one of best I’ve read in several years.”
–Steven Konkoly, Bestselling author of The Jakarta Pandemic and the Black Flagged series
The President of The United States is dead. There is no Vice President to take his place.
As the nation slips into a constitutional crisis, a small group of disenfranchised neo-patriots conspire to violently seize power.
They have the will. They already have someone on the inside. And they have the explosives.
Standing in their way is a woman who listens to conversations not meant for her to hear. She reads mail not intended for her to see. She knows their intention. But can she stop them in time?
SEDITION is a smart, fast-paced, modern day political novel woven in reality and based on the 1820 British plot, The Cato Street Conspiracy.
It navigates the thin line between good versus evil and patriot versus traitor, proving there’s always a reason behind treason.
So if you like the realism and historical context of a Dan Brown thriller, mixed with research of a Tom Clancy novel…you’ll love SEDITION.

Operation Wolfe Cub (The Time To Tell) by H.C. Wells
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Genre Fiction, Horror, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Thrillers
N ationally recognized ForeWord Clarion Reviews gave H.C. Wells’s new breakthrough novel “Operation Wolfe Cub” a four out of five star rating.
A baby is borne out of Germany in the middle of the night on a secret journey. He is prophesied to bring a thousand years of peace to the world, only to survive a shipwreck and be discovered on the shore of America by a disabled American veteran. Thinking he finally has the child he always wished for, he and his wife soon begin to realize that the baby just might be something else entirely.
A thought-provoking work of historical science fiction, H. C. Wells’s debut of his The Time to Tell series is a fascinating reinvention of our nation’s history and the possible truths behind it.
A taut, well-paced thriller full of intrigue and almost unbearable suspense, Wells captures your attention from the novel’s opening action sequence and never relents, always staying two steps ahead with intricate plotting marked by sharp turns and surprising twists. A razor sharp ear for time and place lend authenticity, and the marvel of weaving a fictional tale infused by magical realism within the true events of history is nothing short of astonishing. Full of gusto and quiet unease, Operation Wolfe Cub will have you questioning your beliefs and rethinking critical moments of the past seventy years.

W ritten by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

Unsung Giant by Jennifer Pendon
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Epic, World Literature, Mythology
S ince dawn of humankind’s awareness, we have recorded history in the form of drawings and writings, developing habits of storytelling to express what we see. Though what man sees and how he interprets are not always the same.
Loki, Asgardian god of Norse mythology, known as the God of Mischief and Trickery, is victim of historical and literary misconception – one who is pictured as a god who loves to wreak havoc and leave behind strings of misfortune. Unsung Giant is a story to lay all wrong accounts to rest.
Unsung Giant is a tale of an unlikely Asgardian hero, torn between doing what his mischievous
ways demand, and what is expected of him, being the son of a King. Loki, since gianthood, has always been branded as one who does not think for the good of others. The Nine Worlds, including our own, are on the brink of destruction, and only one can bring about salvation.
What would you do, if the power was in your hands? “Loki has both the Mjollnir and the teningur lifsins; two very powerful weapons he could keep and use for his own purposes. The thought of wielding such power is very enticing, even for one who has a strong resolve.”
As the book goes, “Even the All-Father could not help but beam at his younger son’s impulsive nature. Well, Loki would not be Loki if he became insipidly predictable.” Loki and Thor’s filial affiliation are finally put to the test, from birth through to Ragnarok, end of the Nine Worlds, as we discover the true nature of this misunderstood giant.

Correcting Facial Flaws – And Other Photo Tips! (On Target Photo Training) by Dan Eitreim
Genre(s): Arts & Photography, Photography, Portraits
R evised and expanded edition!
Here in Volume 19 of “On Target Photo Training” we delve into correcting facial flaws – in the camera – by the way we pose and light our subjects.
Then we take everything we’ve been learning – tie it all together and start trying to develop our own personal style.
There are many professionals out there where as soon as we see a photo they’ve done, we immediately recognize who the photographer was. As artists, this is a goal we should all strive to achieve.
When learning, it is important to both learn the rules and to follow them. Only THEN can you break them.
It’s vitally important to know the rules before you break them. Once you are comfortable with the way things normally “should” be done, then you can go your own way and start adding your own creativity and personality into the mix.
That’s when the artist inside of you will get out…And that’s what we all want, isn’t it?

Editorial Review:
“Incendiary by Chris Redding defines what layered, fiery storytelling means: (1) She knows firefighting science and technology, (2) she knows how to mix a flammable brew of plot, character, setting & dialogue, and (3) she knows how to keep the erotic elements flaming as well. Leading lady Chelsea James wowed me! In fact, the depth of all Redding’s characters insisted I pay attention.” –Robert W. Walker, author of the Instinct Series

I Bleed Cubbie Blue: My Six Decades as a Cubs Fan by Doug Erlandson
Genre(s): Sports & Outdoors, Baseball, Essays & Writings, History
W hy would anyone root for a team that hasn’t been in a World Series since 1945 and hasn’t won one since 1908, has had just 20 winning seasons since 1939, and plays in a ballpark that’s nearly a century old and is falling apart? I Bleed Cubbie Blue, a memoir of one fan’s six-decade love affair with the Chicago Cubs, offers a charming and compelling answer to this burning question.
Combining personal memories and reflections with meticulous research, native Chicagoan Doug Erlandson describes his lifelong affection for a team that has raised but ultimately crushed his hopes countless times, a team to which he remains intensely loyal after nearly sixty years of fandom. Beginning with a description of the first game he attended in 1954 (a loss, of course, to the New York Giants), he weaves highlights from every season from the late-1950s through 2012 with detailed descriptions of significant games, front-office follies, trades (some of which should never have been made, others of which turned out to be sheer genius), as well as the individual players (from the great to the incompetent) who toiled in a Cubs’ uniform during this period.
I Bleed Cubbie Blue provides often humorous, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, but always accurate commentary on P.K. Wrigley’s college of coaches, the Brock-Broglio trade (which, according to Erlandson, did not seem like such a bad trade the day it was made), the collapse in 1969 (which still ranks as quintessential of all Cubs’ swoons), why Leo Durocher was a great manager (and why he was not), the lean years of the Seventies and early Eighties, the wonderfully giddy year of 1984 (along with a detailed account of the two most important games of the season), a year that ultimately resulted in the second Great Disappointment (the first being 1969), the improbable divisional championship of 1989, why Kerry Wood’s fifth Major League start was and remains the greatest pitching performance of all times, why Steve Bartman was not to blame for the Cubs’ loss in the 2003 playoffs, and much, much more.
Along the way I Bleed Cubbie Blue describes bizarre plays (such as Cal Neeman’s unlikely inside-the-park homerun when Bob Skinner forgot what inning it was), the tragic death of Ken Hubbs at age 22, the pitcher who claimed he pitched in a hypnotic trance, Jack Brickhouse’s call of an around-the-horn triple play (before it happened!), the unintentionally funny moments with Harry Caray in the broadcast booth, and the most memorable performances by guest conductors during the seventh-inning stretch.
A comment from the Epilogue sums up Erlandson’s reason for writing this memoir: “Whether in winning or losing, the Cubs have provided me with countless memories that are as wonderful and as fresh as the beautifully-manicured baseball diamond that has anchored the northeast corner of Addison and Clark for a hundred years.”

Seouled Out by Andrew Henderson-Henderson
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, Humor & Entertainment, Humor
A n X-Generation memoir of sorts, while at the same time a short attention span trilogy for the A.D.D. crowd. In these economically challenging times, it makes sound fiscal sense to get the most out of your book purchases. The author, acting out of frustration with an impotent undergraduate degree, accidentally went to law school. After graduating, in an effort to change the road he was on, he ended up in Asia, where everything went from the wok into the fire. Returning to the U.S., premature dementia kicked in as he lost his identity as well as his mind trying to survive with a bad credit rating while under constant attack. This is a funny story if you’re not him.

The Painted Darkness by Brian James Freeman

T he Painted Darkness: A Novella
When Henry was a child, something terrible happened in the woods behind his home, something so shocking he could only express his grief by drawing pictures of what he had witnessed. Eventually Henry’s mind blocked out the bad memories, but he continued to draw, often at night by the light of the moon.
Twenty years later, Henry makes his living by painting his disturbing works of art. He loves his wife and his son and life couldn’t be better… except there’s something not quite right about the old stone farmhouse his family now calls home. There’s something strange living in the cramped cellar, in the maze of pipes that feed the ancient steam boiler.
A winter storm is brewing and soon Henry will learn the true nature of the monster waiting for him down in the darkness. He will battle this demon and, in the process, he may discover what really happened when he was a child and why, in times of trouble, he thinks: I paint against the darkness.
But will Henry learn the truth in time to avoid the terrible fate awaiting him… or will the thing in the cellar get him and his family first?
Written as both a meditation on the art of creation and as an examination of the secret fears we all share, The Painted Darkness is a terrifying look at the true cost we pay when we run from our grief–and what happens when we’re finally forced to confront the monsters we know all too well.

“The tone and building dread reminded me of classic Stephen King. Great velocity and impact, and super creepy. Don’t go in the basement!”
– Stewart O’Nan, New York Times bestselling author of The Night Country and A Prayer for the Dying
“Spooky stuff!”
– Richard Matheson, New York Times bestselling author of What Dreams May Come and I Am Legend
“Brian James Freeman’s evocative tale about the dark corners of an artist’s imagination is elegant and haunting.”
– David Morrell, New York Times bestselling author of The Shimmer
“The Painted Darkness is a dark, terrifying, and deeply moving gem of a novella. Brian James Freeman managed to both scare me and move me to tears.”
– Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author of The Keepsake
“Wonderfully reminiscent of the quiet horror of Charles L. Grant, The Painted Darkness takes readers on a gently chilly walk through the forest of fears both conscious and subconscious. With Straubian lyricism, Brian James Freeman evokes not only the irrational terrors of childhood, but addresses the roots of creativity and the vital importance of art. A very impressive achievement.”

But fate has a way of throwing sand in your gears, and just when Caige thought he could forever leave behind the magic that brought pain to his life, his path crosses that of the Healer. Dannai unwittingly casts her spell over him the moment he lays eyes on her. She’s stunning, she’s kind, and everything about her wreaks havoc on his senses. She’s also magic incarnate.
But if Dannai thinks that’s going to stop him from doing everything in his power to make her his mate, the little witch has another thing coming.
4. The Hunt, Book Four:
Byron Caige has been a prisoner for the last fifty years of his supernaturally long life. Just when he gives up hope of ever knowing freedom again, he is unwittingly rescued by the very same woman who only wants to see him dead. Katherine Dare – Kat – is smart, fast, strong and beautiful – but unfortunately she’s a Hunter, and she’s convinced that Byron murdered her father twenty years ago.
She’s also Byron’s dormant.
As war breaks out amongst the otherworldly of Earth and threatens the existence of entire races, Kat is faced with a terrible decision. Should she give up her cause and believe Caige when he professes his innocence? Or should she fight him and possibly avenge her father’s taken life – even while she forfeits her own?
