You are contributing to that that you receive and regurgitate. You are expressing it and providing it with its modern-day context. But the power behind your writing is coming from somewhere else, somewhere powerful, somewhere profound, and the perspective of what you’re writing, whether it’s a cookery book or a sixteen part epic drama; it contains something within it, whether energy or truth or revelation, which is important . . . which needs to be in the world.’
