Changing Lanes: A Novel by Kathleen Long
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, United States, Chick-Lit, Contemporary Women, Domestic Life, Romance, Contemporary, Contemporary Fiction, Genre Fiction, Family Life
A bby Halladay has the perfect life. Or, rather, she will…as long as everything goes exactly according to plan. Abby never leaves anything to chance–not her job as a syndicated columnist, not her engagement to her fiancé, Fred, and certainly not her impending wedding in Paris (New Jersey, that is).
Unfortunately for Abby, even the best-laid plans often go awry–like when Fred runs away to Paris (France, that is), her column is canned, and her dream home is diagnosed with termites. Forced to move back in with her parents and drive her dad’s cab, Abby’s perfect life has now officially become the perfect disaster.
Then a funny thing happens. Slowly but surely, Abby begins letting go of her dreams of perfection. As she does, the messy, imperfect life she thought she never wanted starts to feel exactly like the one she needs.
Poignant and heartfelt, Changing Lanes celebrates the unexpected joys of everyday life–and the enduring promise of second chances.

Blue Rose In Chelsea by Adriana Devoy
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Contemporary, Romance, Contemporary Fiction, Teens
H aley Barrett senses that her life is about to forever change when she spies a blue rose in a Chelsea gateway.
She drops out of Princeton, heeding an intuition that there is something she must find before it is too late, and takes a job as a nanny for an Upper West Side family. In a blues club one night, she falls for the charismatic Evan Candelier, an actor whose star is rising. Evan’s façade of perfection begins to crack when he meets Haley, yet he keeps her at a mystifying distance.
Haley’s dashing rock musician brother conspires to keep them apart and return Haley to the Ivy League. Haley finds a “fairy godmother” in the irrepressible Sinclair Wellington, a costumer and Scottish count. Sinclair sews for Haley an enchanted velvet coat, entangles her in elegant misadventures to win Evan, all the while insisting that in matters of love, nothing is impossible. Until, one snowy day, Sinclair’s lost love from decades past reappears to upend his world.
From brownstones to bookshops, cafes to cathedrals, artist garrets to glittering avenues this circle of bohemians wend their way through late 80s Manhattan. No fairytale is complete without a castle (in Scotland), a ball (at Tavern On The Green), and a revelation, (in a vineyard at twilight) that will surprise and delight.

L as Vegas was the Mob’s greatest venture and most spectacular success,
and through 40 years of frenzy, murder, deceit, scams, and skimming, the
FBI listened on phone taps and did virtually nothing to stop the fun.
This is the truth about the Mob’s control of the casinos in Vegas like
you’ve never heard it before, from start to finish.
Two of the nation’s
most powerful crime family bosses went to prison in the 1930′s: Al
Capone, and Lucky Luciano. Frank Nitti took over the Chicago Outfit,
while Frank Costello ran things for the Luciano Family. Both men were
influenced by their bosses from prison, and both sent enough gangsters
into the streets to influence loan sharking, extortion, union control,
and drug sales.
Bugsy Siegel worked for both groups, handling a string
of murders and opening up gaming on the west coast, and that included
Las Vegas, an oasis of sin in the middle of the desert – and it was
legal. Most of it. The FBI watched as the Mob took control of casino
after casino, killed off the competition, and stole enough money to
bribe their way to respectability back home.
By the 1950′s, nearly every
major crime family had a stake in a Las Vegas casino. Some did better
than others. Casino owners watched-over their profits while competing
crime families eyed each other’s success like jealous lovers. Murder
often followed.

Shadow People: how meth-driven crime is eating at the heart of rural America by Scott Thomas Anderson
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, True Accounts, Organized Crime, True Crime
L iterary Nonfiction. Sleepless and paranoid methamphetamine addicts often see “shadow people” in the darkest hours of the night. Yet it is the addicts themselves that cast a shadow over the most peaceful corners of America, driven in large numbers to commit fraud, identity theft, burglary, domestic violence, elder abuse, child abuse, assault and murder.
In 2010, award-winning journalist Scott Thomas Anderson began to explore the link between crime and methamphetamine, spending sixteen months as an embedded reporter with rural county law enforcement agencies and traveling to dozens of small towns battling the epidemic across the United States. The result is SHADOW PEOPLE, an unflinching look at the havoc and heartache meth spawns in the open countryside–a window to how the drug is threatening America’s wide open country spaces, fueling crimes against citizens, breaking families apart, devastating innocent children and tearing away at the psyche of each community through which it spreads.
“A compelling and up-close look at one of the most corrosive issues that our communities face…this book is full of the kind of front-line reporting and gritty detail needed to illuminate the meth scourge.”–Greg Miller, National Security Report, The Washington Post

World of Archangels by Sufian Chaudhary
Genre(s): Religion & Spirituality, Spirituality, Angels, Self-Help, Spiritual
W orld of Archangels is a spiritual masterpiece designed by Archangel Uriel that retraces the self-realization process that allows you to interact with some of the most influential Beings in this Universe. Regardless of who you are, where you come from or what you are doing, this book contains Universal principles that will redefine your spiritual life. The book is filled with Enlightening meditations, Ancient wisdom and uplifting stories of ethereal encounters with the other side. Whether you are a beginner in this field or an old soul wiser than the day, World of Archangels will help you achieve the next level of your spiritual journey.
Throughout history we have been led to believe that there were only 7 primary Chakras within the human body. There are in fact 12 Chakras that act as representatives for the 12 Dimensions that make up our Universal learning environment. World of Archangels delves quite heavily into each of the Dimensions that collectively became known as Creator School. We are each of us developing souls that will one day achieve the 12th Dimension and leave Creation as powerful Creators ourselves. The fundamentals of achieving such a feat revolves around Unconditional Love and expressing ourselves within the extremely heightened existence of Enlightenment. The Archangels are the Beings who convey these teachings down in order to complete the cycle of learning. World of Archangels was written to simply orchestrate such a Divine meeting; the rest is entirely up to Destiny.
The book follows a self-realization process that Archangel Uriel hand-crafted for the sole purpose of awakening souls. Each chapter continues this powerful journey, where by the end of the book, descriptive meditations upon activating and cleansing the Chakras, raising the vibration of the human body, communing with ethereal Beings, psychic self defense, healing and the ability to understand Life beyond normal human perception becomes available. With self-realization in mind, World of Archangels aims to excel the spiritual aspirant onto a pathway of Enlightenment with dedicated meditations to empower the human energetic body beyond the normal limitations.
Here on Earth we may sometimes become bogged down with all manner of disharmonies that cause us to be shackled into a physical life that was effectively set up for us to fail at some point in time. Sometimes we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel and many times we may even feel burnt by Life itself for no other reason than for the justification of karmic debt. It may be one of the greatest answers to know the meaning of your life and to understand why you are even alive. To genuinely approach an Archangel; these answers may very well be given to you. To live a fulfilling Life, to be free of limitations, to recognize the nature of who you are and where you have come from; this is the result of becoming an awakened soul.

The Red Cross of Gold:. Books I & II (Assassin Chronicles) by Brendan Carroll
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Science Fiction & Fantasy, Fantasy, Epic, Paranormal
B uy both books in one volume and save money!
The immortal Knights of the Council of Twelve comprise the ruling body of the clandestine Order of the Red Cross of Gold, Poor Knights of Solomon’s Temple. Some of them have been around since the Crusades in the Holy Lands, secretly directing, aiding and abetting world events that they believe will eventually culminate in the ultimate confrontation of Good and Evil at Armageddon. As Knights of Christ, they live, fight and die safely as God’s executioners in the service of the Master of the Universe.
Book I:. The Knight of Death
The Red Cross of Gold is an ancient order of clandestine Templar Knights left over from the middle ages. A well-worn theme by now, of course, but these Knights are also left over from the middle ages. In fact, many of them are left over from even earlier ages. The story begins when one of them, whose job is dual in nature, Alchemist/Assassin, takes a trip to America in order to retrieve a deserter. The Grand Master’s Apprentice has broken his vows and run off with a couple of young women from Texas. Unfortunately, there is more to his desertion than is first surmised and a high priestess from a rival order is ready and waiting for him. Using an ancient alchemical solution to subdue the Assassin leaves him with a muddled brain and an unfortunate loss of memory. As he falls in love with one of captors, his memory returns in fits and starts by way of dreams and visions while his other captor tries to pry the secret of immortality from his highly disturbed mind. Things get much worse when the Grand Master declares him a possible threat to the order and sends three of his brethren knights to bring him home with or without his head attached to his body.
The surface tension is obvious, forbidden love, conflicted hero, naïve shallow heroine, ruthless antagonists, but there is a hidden conflict within the Assassin that foreshadows things to come in the Epic Fantasy series: The Assassin Chronicles. The series spans an entire century, starting in 2000 and stretching into the future as the mission and origins of the Order of the Red Cross of Gold and its member knights are revealed. Their tale begins in the shadows of prehistory and culminates with the coming of the New Age.
Book II:. The King of Terrors
Mark Ramsay returns to America bent on marrying the girl he left behind, but things are not well on the home front. Two members of his ancient Order set themselves on a dangerous course to stop him at all costs, believing that the marriage will cause the dissolution of the Order. However, his worst enemy lies much closer to his heart when his most beloved Brother weighs into the equation on the wrong side. The Knight of Death places everything on the line as he battles to save the life of his son and win back the woman he loves.

The Prince of Naples: How a 12-year-old boy brought down the Mafia (Book One) by Hugh Gurney
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, True Accounts, Organized Crime, True Crime
T he Prince of Naples is a true story about a child prodigy living under the control of the violent and terrifying organised crime ‘family’ the Camorra. He is driven to an almost obsessive quest for revenge when the earthquake strikes in 1980, destroying the city, and his family and neighbours are all moved to live in aluminium housing in an unsanitary and crowded shanty town.
More than 40 billion euros in aid money flood into Naples after the quake, but the Camorra ‘own’ the construction businesses and the money is syphoned off to line their own pockets. The boy and the Naples people seem doomed to live indefinitely in rat-infested shanty towns while, just a few miles away, the Camorra and their accomplices live in luxury villas.
The boy’s need for revenge grows along with his rage until he is driven to take actions that no ordinary child could conceive. Even though he is just 12 years old, he ends up getting deeply involved with the Camorra. The Prince of Naples is the story of his revenge and how he avoids capture because no one can imagine his violent and destructive actions are those of a schoolboy.
The boy is now a man and he lives outside Italy under an assumed identity.
PRESS REVIEWS:
“This is the true story of ‘The Prince’, a child prodigy who takes on the corrupt and terrifying Camorra, (the Naples Mafia) but there’s nothing they can do without a clue to the identity of their fearless enemy. No one suspects it’s The Prince who has the perfect disguise – he is 12 years old.
“If his youth isn’t enough to waylay suspicion, The Prince also plays dumb, pretending to be just like any other kid – a device that provides the reader with that lovely stomach-squeezing type of excitement and hope that drives classic adventure novels, such as The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Count of Monte Cristo. The constant promise that his true identity will be revealed – that he is a genius and not the ordinary boy he’s pretending to be – is a hook that makes this book unputdownable. The Prince of Naples has all the fuel that any good adventure needs.” – THE HUFFINGTON POST
“This tale of a modern-day Robin Hood who takes on the Mafia is both shocking and astounding!” -NUTS Magazine
“I really like this book!” -THE SUN
“Crime biography at its best. This will become the story of the year” –NOW! Magazine
“This book reads like a Hollywood movie which makes it all the more incredible that it’s true!” -BEAUTIFUL Magazine

A riveting investigation of the brutal murders of two Dartmouth professors –– a book that, like In Cold Blood, reveals the chilling reality behind a murder that captivated the nation. On a cold night in January 2001, the idyllic community of Dartmouth College was shattered by the discovery that two of its most beloved professors had been hacked to death in their own home. Investigators searched helplessly for clues linking the victims, Half and Susanne Zantop, to their murderer or murderers. A few weeks later, across the river, in the town of Chelsea, Vermont, police cars were spotted in front of the house of high school senior Robert Tulloch. The police had come to question Tulloch and his best friend, Jim Parker. Soon , the town discovered the incomprehensible reality that Tulloch and Parker, two of Chelsea’s brightest and most popular sons, were now fugitives, wanted for the murders of Half and Susanne Zantop. Authors Mitchell Zuckoff and Dick Lehr provide a vivid explication of a murder that captivated the nation, as well as dramatic revelations about the forces that turned two popular teenagers into killers. Judgement Ridge conveys a deep appreciation for the lives (and the devastating loss) of Half and Susanne Zantop, while also providing a clear portrait of the killers, their families, and their community –and, perhaps, a warning to any parent about what evil may lurk in the hearts of boys.

T o say F**k It feels good. To stop struggling and finally do what you wish . . . to ignore what everyone is telling you and just go your own way . . . feels really great. In this inspiring and humorous book, John C. Parkin suggests that saying F**k It is the perfect Western expression of the Eastern spiritual concept of letting go, giving up, and finding real freedom by realizing that things don’t matter so much (if at all). Jackpot (Tony Valentine series) by James Swain
Genre(s): Literature & Fiction, Mystery Thriller & Suspense, Mystery, Hard-Boiled, Police Procedurals, Thrillers, Suspense, Crime
D EADLY PLEASURES MAGAZINE Review by George Easter
I’ve been a big fan of this series since its inception
with GRIFT SENSE. Swain has a natural gift for storytelling.
The various scams are fascinating in their ingenuity and for
the clever detection that thwarts them. And Tony Valentine
and his crew are among my favorite characters in
crime fiction. It’s a shame that this and WILDCARD are
only available on the Kindle (or on an IPad with a free
Kindle app – which is how I read them). He’s also published
two other e-book originals – one a Jack Carpenter novel
and the other a stand-alone (his first novel). I’d say that it’s
almost worth buying a Kindle to read them, but I’ll let you
make that decision.
JACKPOT by James Swain Rating: A This novel is set in
modern-day with Tony Valentine’s son playing a prominent
role as his sidekick.
Tony has a score to settle. Decades before, his
brother-in-law was gunned down by a gang of ruthless con
men, each of whom Valentine has sworn to track down.
Now, only one is left, the cold-blooded Bronco Marchese.
Valentine goes to Nevada to bring Bronco to
justice, while also helping the police figure out how
someone is stealing hundreds of slot machine jackpots
without ever touching the machines.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
From the national bestselling novelist the Houston Press calls “One of today’s best suspense writers” comes a electrifying story of murder, greed, and revenge.
Ex-cop Tony Valentine has a score to settle. Decades before, his brother-in-law was gunned down by a gang of ruthless con men, each of whom Valentine has sworn to track down. Now, only one is left, the cold-blooded Bronco Marchese.
Valentine goes to Nevada to bring Bronco to justice, while also helping the police figure out how someone is stealing hundreds of slot machine jackpots without ever touching the machines. It’s a case that only Valentine with his amazing “grift sense” can solve. Along the way, he will put his own life in peril, and risk everything that he holds dear, to bring his life-long enemy to justice.

If I Did It by The Goldman Family
Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, True Accounts, Murder & Mayhem, True Crime
I n 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but was ultimately acquitted of criminal charges. The victims’ families brought a civil case against Simpson, which found him liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole committing battery with malice and oppression. In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. A Florida bankruptcy court awarded the rights to the Goldmans in August 2007 to satisfy the civil judgment in part. The Goldman family views the book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is O.J. Simpson’s original manuscript, approved by him, with up to 14,000 words of additional key commentary. –This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Readers have taken to calling this the “Human Series,” and why not? It’s the story of humanity’s future, both the possible bliss, the possible torment, and all of the in between. The mysterious host has gathered together all those whom have wronged him in his life with the intent of seeking his revenge. But the suspicious young man in the worn tweed jacket anxiously fingers a gun in his pocket, waiting for the host to arrive.
An excerpt–
A shuffle past the arch caught his attention. Past the arch imported from italy, past the two wide marble pillars with great veins of white, and on down the hallway lit with grand chandeliers, leaned a man against the wall covered in shadow, a cigarette peeking out of his mouth, illuminating his face in a glow of red, his eyes covered by a black fedora. He wore a powerful grin. Chuckling, the man in the hall took a long drag, took his time with the exhale of effortless smoke rings. When he spoke, he did so without revealing his eyes. “Mr. Johnson, I believe. Yes, it is you, isn’t it? I should have known it would be you who would start the riot. Please, I would consider it a personal offense if you left before dinner arrived.” His voice then took a dark turn as he uttered the malevolent words, “Sit back down.”
Mr. Johnson’s eye’s opened wide as he recognized the face in the hall, that nameless smile. “You’ve been here the whole time? You, sir, led me here in good faith.”
“Good faith,” spoke the man in the hall, “You don’t know the meaning of faith! I assure you, you have not an inkling on the matter. And as for ‘good’, Mr. Johnson, you are nothing of the kind, not one spec of goodness hangs about your loathsome person, your horrendous ideals, your shot ‘em in the back business practices or your exploitative mannerism and back room dealings. No, sir, do not point your finger at me! No, sir, do not try to raise your voice! For once in your life you will be silenced. Even the tycoon of a stolen empire deserves an iota of humility before he dies!”

Genre(s): Biographies & Memoirs, True Accounts, True Crime, Nonfiction
M y name is David P Perlmutter, this is my story based on true events of my trip to Marbella, Spain. There are moments in the story that I’m not proud of but also there are some that I am. You will have your view and I would be delighted to hear what you think of my book.
“After successfully negotiating another property deal in London, I meet a friend to celebrate but due to my own reckless stupidity, events that night took a wrong turn & I end up losing everything I had worked so hard for. A month or two later I head for Marbella, Spain with its promise of adventure and fun.”
“Little do I know that I’m about to be thrust into the most terrifying time of my life. Wrong Place Wrong Time is a gripping true-life story of an unimaginable nightmare & how my ticket to a new life turns out to be a one way ticket to hell.”
On the 19th Feb: WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME became the #1 BESTSELLER in TRUE CRIME on Amazon in America.
Here are some of my 29 FIVE ***** US Reviews.
5*****WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME is the first book written by David Perlmutter & what a fantastic story he has to tell.
Highly recommended. Brilliant story Sir.
RJ Parker
True Crime Author/Publicist
5*****I disagree with David’s perception of himself as a writer. Wrong Place Wrong Time is written beautifully. It is a heartfelt & amazing story of courage and stamina.
5*****I am a fan of biography, autobiography, true crime & fact based literature. This book had elements of all these genres & it read like a thriller. David’s style of writing makes you feel like he is just a friend telling a story but just when you are thinking you are going to get a nice coming-of-age story, beer & women get involved, and then the plot begins to twist! This is a edge of your seat, can’t put it down PERFECT read. I am a reader & a thinker & this one kept me doing both. Do not for a moment think this is a ‘man’s book’. ANYONE who likes a great read will enjoy this one…the girls in the book club can’t put it down, my 80 year old dad loved it & any 20-something on the verge of traveling should read this cautionary tale! Well done!
5*****This is an incredible story, one of the few books that leave you cursing your surroundings for constantly distracting you.
5*****I would not be surprised to see this book be turned into a movie some day. If it does, I’ll be one of the first in line to watch it!
5*****A Thrilling, Gripping True Story…..I don’t normally read true stories but this one grabbed my attention & kept me hooked the entire way through. We all make mistakes in our lives, but for Dave his mistakes will never be forgotten. His mistakes also led to acts of Heroism which most of us could never dream of achieving. This is an incredible, honest account of one man’s journey which changed his life forever.
5*****I won’t ruin the suspense by telling you what happens next, but suffice it to say, it will bring to mind some scenes from Midnight Express.
5*****His tale is a roller coaster ride & you don’t want to get off until the end. The twists & turns will leave you breathless.
It is well-written and has a good pace. Your dialogue is very convincing and I could feel the sun & smell the sun-tan lotion! I thought you wrote honestly & without self-pity, which makes it all the more authentic.
I’m really impressed by your writing. It’s very polished and sails right along. Your descriptions are rich and effective. Dialogue is pitch perfect & meshes perfectly with actions & descriptions. Wonderful.
You are an excellent writer & your memoir is captivating. I was so enthralled with you story.
5*****Love a book that I can immediately connect with a character & Dave is truly one of those people. Would love to see this story on the big screen!
5*****Wrong Place Wrong Time is an absolutely captivating real life story from beginning to end.
5*****I warn you, start reading this book & you will not want to stop, it’s that gripping, you simply cannot wait to find out what comes next.
