Unexpected Visitor by John Walker

Mur has kept a secret under his floorboards for fifty years: a strange box his best friend's mother made him hide before the family vanished.

Then a thief steals it, and Cleo returns, fifty years later, looking just twenty-five. Her spaceship was not built on Earth. A sensible man would stay home. Mur asks if there is room for one more.
