Are DEMONS and ANGELS, like vampires and werewolves, merely legend and lore?
Or is there more to life than meets the eye?
This is the question high schooler, Clare Thomson, is faced with when she unwittingly discovers she can see spiritual beings.
Clare approached the stately, lakeside log cabin. She could hear the roaring engines of racing Jet Skis and the laughing voices of Nikki and Elise. She glided her bike along the gravel drive and coasted down the hill to join the girls in the backyard.
She looked up and let out a horrified shriek as she lost control of her bike and slid out onto her stomach on the grass. She cringed with pain and fright. There, hovering above the sunbathing girls were two HUGE, dark forms with gruesome, scabby, ghostly faces!
Two more creatures were flying swiftly alongside the speeding Jet Skis as if they were riding sidecar. As she looked closer she saw that they had deformed, grotesque expressions — not at all human-like but more like murderous apes with fangs and black pits for eyes.
She shakily got to her feet, mounted her bike and rode — fast.
The moment she got home she threw her bike to the ground and climbed back up the tree, through her window, and into the safety of her bedroom.
“What did I just see?!” Clare thought to herself as her chest heaved with gasping breaths, “I must have gotten too much sun. Or maybe I did drink way too much last night…yeah, that must be it…” she reasoned, pacing back and forth, “either that or…or these glasses allow me to see an invisible spiritual world.”
In this coming of age novel, Catholic author Verity Lucia writes from a biblical perspective to answer one of the big questions on every generation’s heart. Is evil real?
